How much weight where?!

Today was the first day out on the new board and i absolutely love wakesurfing, but i was curious how much weight are you guys running and where, also what speed. We were about 10-12mph, with 500lbs center and 600lbs in the locker, just curious because i couldnt find the sweet spot to let the rope go to save my life, just wondering if i need more weight i guess.

Well heres a few from today, and i know they kinda suck but were just figuring out how to get some good wakesurfing pics, i'll post more when i get the ones my buddy got from the tower.

well what i do in my 2000 Mb Sports 190 plus is, put a 600 lb sack in the back locker. and then a 400 lbs on my toeside. Creates a great wake and its big enough for me to let the rope go and surf free. So i would say you need to weight down the back then your "toeside" edge. then it should work.

Tyler, I'd say your first problem might be your speed, 10-12 mph is a little fast, on most boats I wouldn't surf above 10, I surf at about 9 to 10. Your most important weight is going to be the rear weight on which ever side you're surfing, for you the left. Then I would either put another sac on the middle left or make sure you have a good 3 people sitting on that side. That weight in the back left and middle left is going to give you the size you need to let go of the rope. Then I'd recommend getting some weight in the bow too, that'll help lengthen the wave out so you have more usable wave to play with. My weight configuration is 750 lbs in the rear left storage compartment (500 lb sac and 250 lbs in lead), a 500 lb sac on the middle left, and another 500 lb sac in the center front ski locker. Here's a pic of what that produces behind the boat.

Hey geys thanks for the advice we just picked up another 600lb sac on ebay last night, so im thinking we'll just get some lead for the bow and see what we can do this weekend.

Let me know what ends up working for your boat. I have the same boat as you but an 03. The hull looks a little different from your pic but the weighting should be similar. We were out this weekend and just couldn't find it the spot either.

Well we got our other sac and i put 600 in left back locker, center ballast about 300, middle left we put another 400, and then a few people in front. I still couldnt drop the rope and stick in there, but its definitley better, and i think its cause i need to just pump harder but the wake is soo much better, thanks for all the advice guys.
Jethro- just play with your weight, and you'll find it, but definitely just weight your boat and drive w/o a rider, too see how it looks. Good luck. And I still seem to be goin 10.6 no slower or its to washy still, and doesnt seem to form.

Tyler, in retrospect, speed is all relative since boat speedos aren't known for their accuracy. I set my speedo this weekend with a GPS and found I've actually been running it at almost 11 mph, so 10.6 could be right on with your boat...
