Like to add a sub to my existing system.
Nothing fancy, just something to add depth to it. I presently have a Kenwood HU and 4ch amp to 4 - 6x9 MTX speakers. I'd like to put a box in the front storage area. The boats an MC PS205. I don't want to spend too much on this setup. Can anyone point me in the direction for a reasonable sub + amp. 10 or 12" sub?

I'd recommend the JL Audio 10W1v2 10" sub. It doesn't require a big box to sound great and it's reasonably priced. I bought mine from Car Toys and they built me a nice little custom box that fits nicely under one of my bow cusions. Right now, I'm running right around 120-watts to it, and it sounds pretty good. I'm upgrading this weekend and will probably feed it closer to 240. 120 sounds pretty good though and would be a great addition for you. I just want a little bit more punch.

I just bought an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1D and a Kenwood 7252 amp. I got the amp off Ebay for $140 inc. shipping and the Infinity for $155 inc. shipping. I chose the Infinity to be used as an "open air" to install in the precut hole under the dash on the drivers side. This install is going in a 05' MC X-2 which should be similar to your 205. If the stuff gets here on Friday, I'll be doing the install this weekend. If you want some pics, let me know.

definately the JL W1V2 and W3v2 are both great subs for the money.

If you are tight on space you could either go with the 10 W1v2 because of its shallow mounting depth otherwise they require almost the same size box.
Personally the 10" W3v2 is the best way to go because it needs a small box so it wont take up alot of room, and it has alot more kick and punch than the W1v2 at the same power.

You can run the w3v2 with only 125-200 watts and get amazing performance.

edesignaudio.com. 11Kv2 or 13Kv2. I'd put mine up against a JL w3 anyday. Combo w/nine.2 for $280/289 shipped, 3-year warranty....no ebay BS.

so the 10w3v2 is pretty good huh? i was thinking about replacing my 10w1v2 with a w3. and briding my e4300 down to 2 ohms for it.

Bruce i think the w3 is way better than w1.
It has alot more punch and is much more lively

hey william

the 10w3v2 says optimum is 300 watts, while optimum on the 10w1v2 is 150

what are you running your w3 at? is 150 enough? how does that work with a dual voice coil exactly? i was thinking of changing out my second amp for something new, but i'm having a really hard time finding something that will push more than 150 watts on the bridged side that isn't too big. i have to have a 4-channel amp because the other 2-channels are driving my tower speakers. i was going to do the JL slash 450/4 but it's too big. i need something closer in size to the e4300 which is what is currently driving my 10w1v2 and tower speakers. 70-watts to the towers and 150 to the sub. i'd add another mono block amp, but i'm tapped out for space, and it would kill my alternator.

We put a JL 12 w3 in my buddies pontoon boat.
It sounds pretty good with a phenix gold 400w amp
@2ohms in a sealed box.

I have been running the Alpine Type R subs in my boat and convertible. They are pretty cheap and have lasted well so far.

This is my setup without the front port thing. http://cgi.ebay.com/Alpine-Type-R-12-SWR-1242D-Sub-HI-TECH-BOX-ENCLOSURE_W0QQitemZ5872144090QQcategoryZ32823QQrdZ 1QQcmdZViewItem

For amps my HiFonics BX1500D has been solid. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HIFONICS-BRUTUS-BX1500D-MONO-CAR-AMP-AMPLIFIER-AUDIO_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38638QQitemZ80416 43059QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Fairly cost effective solution. The sub-box is plastic and waterproof, probably the easiest solution going.

Mike
