Board Reccomendations for Big Guy

Hi Folks,

Looking to get into surfing and hopefully you guys can help me narrow down the best board for me. I grew up surfing in the ocean and have gone out a few times with some buddies in the lake so I understand the fundamentals. I am 6'3 and about 215lbs. What would be the best board for my size?

I am 6' 2" 220 and am looking for a surf style board too,(sorry about the highjack) bought an Obrien Alias and its fun, but not really what i was expecting. Anbody have an extra board they want to sell or have any info on a good board.

Get the 5.0 I've had small to big on it including me and my daughter at a combined 300lbs. Its fast, loose and fun. With the Future Fins you can get different fins and change the riding characteristics.

Josharre2000--- I am 285lbs and I use a Inland Blue. It is a fast board and loose. From beginners to advanced, light to heavy. Everyone that has surfed with us, uses the board and are happy with it.

Thanks wardo,the waves have been really good up north lately,and then you have the lake where its always three to four at my lake,cant complain about that.that video you have on your profile is that one you did,that wave on the cover is crazy!!!!

I second the IS Blue board recommendation. It works well for people of all sizes (90 lbs to 240 lbs) behind my boat. One question to ask, though, is how big is your wake. If you're trying to surf behind a boat with a small wake, you might consider the IS Red Woody. It is a fun board too, and because it has more surface area it works well on small waves.

As far as the IS Blue for bigger riders

I would assume that the quad fin and also larger fins would help for the bigger rider. Is that correct?

Thanks guys... I appreciate the info. our x-45 will be showing up ina couple of weeks and I am trying to get all geared up. I guess I should have mentioned what type of boat we will be playing behind.

I have both the comp X 5.0 and the IS Blue. Both boards will get the job done as long as your wake is right.

yeah im going to get some waves tommorow and thursday and then I have to go do a photo shoot for the other part of the swell kind of bummed but its always three four behind the boat.

Check out the Triple X Slasher 5' 0". We rode it at the TWC. A couple bigger guys got on it and had no trouble and really liked it. Triple X is a surf company so they make boards that really surf and the price is right too!
