Looks like y'all are enjoying the sport!!
We tried to get our 40 lb daughter up on her own but just no luck. She's been wakeboarding since she was 4 and has the desire to surf on her own but when she couldn't get it on her own we did it together. She got board quickly so we've been doing a few more exciting things.

James,
I take the usual position to get up and my daughter has her back against my gut and her heels are resting on the board in between my heels. It's fairly easy since they are so small at that age. I hope this helps.
FYI, My 9 year old son had to learn the feel of riding this way but now he can get up on his own. He's 65 lbs. He started wakeboarding one his own when he was 6.

thanks, do you hold on to them at all or do you hold onto the rope with both hands

I do it the same way. I hold the rope with both hands, and have the kids do the same (they get the handle).

For the smaller ones I have them turn around and hug me and then climb down.

My daughter loves it! Still trying to get her to let up on the death grip.

Fun stuff! I love that pic from Wil with daughter standing on shoulders.

James as for getting up --
I don't have them hold the rope at all -- just support them with my arms under their armpits and get up as normal. They start out with their feet on the board between mine.

I get up with her the same way set up like normal and she sets up in the middle. I hold the rope and she hangs on to my arms while we get up to speed I stay low then stand once up to speed.

I think it is a great way to get them use to being out there as well as good idea and feel for how to get up.
