Is a 4X4 tow vehicle required for Lake Mead Boat ramps?

A friend of mine told me they knew somebody that was not allowed to drop their boat in because the tow vehicle was not a 4 wheel drive. (Oh…I knew this guy once) Type of situation!

I personally have not been anywhere this is a requirement and have read through the Park Regulations and have found nothing to support this.

My concern is I only have a 2 wheel drive truck and will be boating on Mead regularly so I figured I would ask those of you that boat on Mead.

Thank You!

Not a requirement, but would be helpful at times

Thanks Dave,

You might have come in contact with the boat I purchased...The previous owner is on Lake Elsinore. 2006 MB B-52 V23 (red/black flames)

Regardless of the truck or lake, I always carry a tow strap(I'm a jeep JK guy so it's an habit!) but I also keep one in the fx4,you never know

My truck is on the smaller side...2002 Explorer Sport Trac...so a tow strap is a great idea. I can see it coming handy if a ramp is on the slicker side.

We go out of calville most of the time and never have any problems with a 2wd 2012 dodge durango towing a Sanger v210. All of the ramps are concrete and never have I had any issues getting out.

Thanks David!

That helps put my "worries" at ease. Being unfamiliar with the area makes me a bit uneasy. I was hard for me to believe 4X4s where required on the ramps...

No Problem, we go out at least once a week, always looking for other people to ride with. Look out for us we have a white Sanger with black graphics, black tower. See you out there!!
