Camping in Washington State

We are looking for a good campground in Washington this summer. Preferrably a site with moorage available. Does anyone have any suggestions?

not sure if moorage is available, but lincoln rock campground is pretty sweet.

Lincoln Rock State Park does have moorage available but it fills up quick on weekends. Book early for a site and moorage if you want to stay a weekend there. If they're book, try the state park about 20 mins north on there. I think it's called BeeBe State Park. It's newer and is close to Chelan.

PS- Watch out for the random floating logs in the river.

Crescent Bar (south of Wenatchee) also has a campground with moorage. I try to stay at one or both every summer.

Check out Crescent Bar. They have docks, condo's, campsites and a sweet azz bar. If it's a weekend of concerts at the Gorge, you can roll out by boat and hear the music.

You should come up and hang out with all of us for NWWF at pateros. You can run a search to find more info. Lincoln rock state park is nice and family friendly. Crescent bar is my favorite by far if you have a boat. We are over there almost every weekend in the summer. If you need any info on crescent bar, feel free to e-mail me. Mike and Cliff thanks a bunch. I will definitely check out Crescent Bar. Cliff NWWF looks like a blast I am definitely interested in going this year.

Don't forget Banks Lake and Lake Roosevelt. There are many places with great scenery and weather.

Roosevelt is where its at. I'm hoping to get over there for a week or 2 this summer. Good old Tri-Cities is still awesome though!

Keller Ferry on Lake Roosevelt has plenty of fee and free moorage if you don't mind throwing out an anchor. Sweet place to ride out of, especially b/c butter is 5 minutes down lake if its blowing in front of the camp ground. Plenty of nice sandy beaches to hang out on all day long as well. I'll be there starting August 19th for a week!

Crescent Bar and Lincoln rock rule the world for best water conditions period! Roosevelt and Banks are great, but they are SO FAR away from the Seattle area. BTW- if you're looking for a weekend date for the summer at Lincoln Rock- forget it - you need to book those in November for the coming summer and you CAN reserve the docks there now. I miss Washington so badly!!!

another vote for cresent bar, I usually go out there for a 10 day vacation every summer. One of the best kept secrets in WA for vacation spots.

Went to Steamboat Rock last summer for the first time and it was PHENOM! The wakeboarding was awesome, we never really had to leave our the little area, but there were miles and miles of butter all day every day. It sits in a canyon so the wind is always blocked. Plus there are cliffs around for hangin out, jumping, whatever. I got my kids to jump some little 4 footers, and there is 50 footers for the older "kids". Just a great place. We decided last summer that that is our annual trip now... check it out

Since when is Crescent Bar a secret. It is one of the most crowded crazy places on earth in the summer. Especially on the big holiday weekends. That being said a good trip over to White Sands on Memorial Day weekend or Labor Day weekend is always amuzing. You never know what you are going to see there. The water in the Crescent bar area is only good till about 10 or 11 on the weekends because of how many boats are there. Weekdays are awesome or if you are willing to wakeup at 6am on the weekends. Something nice about Crescent Bar/Vantage/Sunland is that you can spend most of the day on the water and then head up to the Gorge to watch a Concert at the best Venue in the United States.

nop not the case, I'm there every year for the 4th of july, def not crowded. Now Seattle is crowded, crescent bar is small hick town bro, what a couple hundred condos and trailers MAX. Not to mention no parking if not staying inside the actual town.

I've never had more than 1 person infront of me inline at the boat launch. How long is the line to launch at Sammamish in the summer???

If you think cresent bar is the caziest place on earth then you need to get out more.

I agree that the water is calmer in other places on the columbia than in crescent bar but there is never a dull moment a CB which is why it is my favorite. Plus its only 2 1/2 hours away. Get up early to ride, surf all day while you people and boat watch. The gorge ampitheatre. Its hard to top that. There is first come first serve camping near lincoln rock state park as well. That is the place I am talking about. I gre up on sammamish so I have no idea what the launch is like. It is crowded though. I have been to Sunland probably 30 times in the last 7 years and it is crazy on the weekend. In Sunland I have waited 3 hours in the water to get the boat out of the water. On the big weekends if you try and put your boat in the water between 8-11 you have atleast a 20 minute wait to get your boat in the water.

Two Rivers on the Lake Roosevelt is awesome for camping and boating. The Indians run the camp grounds which has RV and Tent sites. There is a nice marina for gas and docking and a beach you anchor off of. Private showers and coin op laundry room. It's located on the Spokane River where it meets Roosevelt. They have a casino of course.

Hit Sammamish launch at 5a like we do. Never a problem for us. In the winter, it's even better.

Cliff last year when I was launching at Sammamish on the weekends I would hit up the somewhat secret launch. I never had to wait more than one boat. And that was at 9 or 10 on sunny saturdays. I miss having the boat moored on the water. I didn't have to deal with launching at all. We use to put the boat in the water in April and take it out in late october.

The condos I stay at in CB have a private launch so I guess I'm spoiled!

I can remember seeing the launch line up and Sammamish go back like 40 cars. Just stoopid busy.

And yeah the top secret launch on the other side is starting to get busy

I hope vasa isn't your secret launch because thats no secret, there are a few on the north end of sammamish if you know the right people. Personally if I have to wait to launch then chances are the water isn't going to be worth riding anyway.

Jiffy - We're leaving and laughing at the folks waiting in that line. Getting up early and getting out before anyone is up is the only way to get the water. If there's a wait of any kind you slept in too late.
