Has anyone seen this behemoth? I wonder how soon before we'll start seeing them at the local ramp...

Takes a special license just to drive it. One of the motorcross guys drives something similar. Those types of truck are huge!

The International site says a CDL is not required, but some states may impose restrictions on operating the vehicle.

The Detroit News has an article on this truck (http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosinsider/0409/14/autos-271524.htm), which pretty clearly is aimed at the "Look at me" set. A few are on the street, but they don't expect a large production run.

One problem is its size. It's two feet taller than a Hummer H2, and four-and-a-half feet longer. It clearly won't fit into a standard garage. Since the price is north of $100K, many finanically-capable buyers live in developments that prohibit outside parking (or at least parking trucks outside).

In California at least, anything with air brakes requires a different class of drivers license.

I've seen two of them this year. One I saw at Shasta with a 42 Fountain behind it. The second, was driving down the road just the other day with a huge RV trailer behind it.

One with a 42' Fountain behind it huh?? That's a pretty large extension of the manhood. Would have been impressive to see.

Howard Arneson tows with something similar. Of course he has one of those little manhood boats too. His only has one powerplant and outdrive though...of course that is one helicopter turbine powerplant.

There was a brown one at castaic 2 weekends ago in the parking lot. Lot of people checking it out. Had a chevy emblem on the grill and it said kodiak on the side. A bit of overkill for towing a 20' ish boat. Kool looking though.

Don't know what all the hype is on this, International has been making production vehicles like this for years.

All that is above is the Long-body Wrecker frame and 4 door pass compartment with a Ford p/u bed attached.

The only thing the MIGHT be hype is that they are targeting the Super-Rich/Super-Stupid crowds.

I drove an Int. Flatbed with a similar body about 5 years ago...Nearly Every Medium Duty Wrecker out on the road from International has the same Frame & front-end as above!

oh yea...The stacks on the Int model make it look stupid. Less is more on a vehicle this big.

I think the hype is they finally put a luxury interior in it and gear it to the super-rich crowd as something new that they must have to impress the neighbors with. Pretty cool, not practical. I better not see some senior citizen driving one with a 40' 5th wheel going 30MPH on the freeway though. So long as that doesn't happen I'm cool with them.

I just noticed - that F650 doesn't have any side mirrors. Yikes!

It's probably got a dozen or so video cameras, so...mirrors are obsolete. 650??? most people can't even park a 350.
