The White House announced their plans for controlling Asian Carp. One of their plans calls for closing the Chicago locks for 3-4 days per week to block the fish and then to allow shipping to use the locks the rest of the time.

Are they serious?!? They have got to be kidding!

I know that the Carp will be consulting their calendars and voluntarily holding back from entering Lake Michigan on the 3-4 days per week that the Feds say it is OK to open the locks for shipping.

You can't make this stuff up! It's sad.

Really, they're not already in Lake Michigan. Yeah right. The nets haven't worked, so why wouldn't we just poison them. Noone eats fish out of the Illinois River or the canal, so just poison them and get it over with. I really don't understand the need that people seem to have to screw with the ecosystem. They are Asian Carp, why didn't we leave them there in the first place? Oh yeah, because we can control nature.

The fricken Asian carp jump, and that's where the problem lies. In addition to that, they breed quickly, and overtake the existing population in relatively short order. To think that the carp haven't already made it into Lake Michigan is ignorant. They may not be prevalant yet, but they are there.

i like the idea of gettin paid to catch them! i dont see how you can poison them haha...nice thought tho!

Bottom line though. shipping ships need to figure out an alternative to ballast...maybe someone will figure up an alternative to ballast...maybe that will change wakeboarding and create unreal wakes behind one of the new alternative to ballast boats
