I just bought a Sony DCR-HC30 which is a mini dv camcorder. When I USB stream and upload movies to my video editing software (video expulsion deluxe) really cheap program, the film quality isnt good at all. Ive talked to alot of people and they said this camera is good for editing. I just want to be able to edit videos, then put them on a tape. Does Adobe do the same thing with mini dv tapes? Thanks.

Why are using USB? The Sony DCR-HC30 is a minDV so it has firewire, please use that instead.

When you export the video back to tape are you doing some sort of compression? or maybe you are starting your project in the editing suite with the wrong settings? The whole idea behind digital is that you do not lose quality because you are passing 1's and 0's.

If you want something simple and FREE, check out Microsoft Movie Maker II

Does Adobe do the same thing? NO and neither should any other editing suite.

Kung fu, i just pulled down an ISO of Adobe Premiere 7.0 and it works. I figured it out that I need to buy the DV firewire cable, it didnt come with the camera, its an extra 40 bucks. Im going to run to best buy today and pick it up. I didnt know USB and the firewire make that big of a differnce. Thanks for your help. Im new at the whole video editing side of things, just bought that camera.
