When does the season start for you if you dont ride year round? Depending on weather I try and get out at the end of march/early april if I can get some sunny days.

This year is abnormally cold in dallas, tx though so waters may be colder longer

I am in the minneapolis area and water usually breaks open around the first or secon week of april. I am out within the first few days of ice out. Usually ride every week or 2 then until mid may when I hit it up a couple times a week from then on. Then I hit it harder after labor day because that is typically when a lot of people put their boats away around here and ice is back on around end of november. There is a lot of great 50-60* butter around that time and I am the only one on the lake.

My season starts next week in SoCal, but in MN we really dont get going till Mid March at the earliest and even then its crazy cold.

In North Carolina we ride without a wetsuit from March through November. Lots of people ride year round around Hyco or Belews Creek or even the eastern part of the state. I try to hit at least one run every month during the winter. Also, Florida isnt too far away so I get to ride down in Orlando some when its too cold here

KDuff, I live in the DFW area and usually end season in mid to late January and begin the next season in early March. I rode new years day here out west and it wasn't too bad. Where do you normally ride?

KDuff, Clinton is a power plant lake, if you ride next to the discharge it's usually 80-85. Usually get my first and last sets of the year there. There's one similar in Texas, I believe it's Lake Fairfield.

Last weekend in April for my part of Canada. But thats wearing a real thick wetsuit and taking some super quick sets. The real season starts about mid May.

This cold front in Florida marked the start of my offseason. It will probably go into mid february then i will start riding again.

Brandon C, how long of a run can you make next to the discharge part of the lake? I've only been to Clinton in the summer. It was down to -6 in central Illinois about a day ago. I'll be lucky to get out by early May without a wetsuit in the good ole' Illinois River.

I'll go as soon as the ice is off the lakes and it's nice.
Sometimes it's early March, other times it's May.

watched them cut a tree down, onto the ice, then pull up a truck and huge trailer and load it up. Right where we ride! Going to be a while yet.

if Air + Water = 100 your good. I just worry about random night freezes in early season, so we start around easter and end on halloween.
