pulling out my 21v last night, i was putting the tower back up and I am really concerned about all the weight on the vinyl. does anyone have any secrets how to keep the tower off the vinyl when laying it backwards?? I was thinking about some 1*6 boards the width of the boat on shop rags and letting it rest on those??

gary, i cut the end of a 1 x 6 to match the tubing on the tower and put carpet it the cutout area. the board is about 3 feet long and it stands on the carpet.

that seems to protect the vinyl well.

gary, my buddy does what you described by putting a piece of wood accross the gunwales and then let the tower rest on that.... works nice.. he might get on and show you pics....

An old life vest may work just as well.

I just use my square blue cooler with a blanket and some life jackets spread around. It never touches the set with it resting on the cooler. I towed it that way for 20 hours. Worked great for me.

i took a 2x4, covered it in carpet. took a square of a 2x4, cut a circle into it, cut the circle in half and ended up with 2 "U" shaped pieces of wood. mounted those 2 pieces to the 2x4 and the tower fit right into the "U". lay it across the bow with some towels underneath it.

no scratches or anything and took me about 30 minutes to make

Here's what I have done. There's pipe insulation for padding in the tube that goes around the pylon. 4" pipe and PVC adhesive. It's super durable and the heavy tower leaves no impressions on the vinyl like a vest, or something else, would. Not sure if you can do the same with your Supra, but I thought I'd share anyway.
