Just completed our first full year of riding. We got this year about 15-20 times, not as much I would like but we have a 18month old so you ride when you can, plus a good double ankle injury (just when I got the sack to try my backroll .

I can do some of the basic's, W2W with a few grabs,butterslide,reverse butterlide,surface 180's,etc.

She's still working on the W2W as she has only been out 5-10 times.

My qustion would be other than to continue to riding when we can through the winter what can we do to inprove our riding? We are seriously considering getting back into snowboarding which we haven't done in over 10 years.

Thanks for the help..

Weight lifting, trampoline training, diving, gymnastics, and snowboarding/skateboarding can help.

whatever you do this winter, whether it's snowboarding or wakeboarding, take the time to stretch!

I think treading water in a pool is a great workout as well as diving and swimming. The old trick of taking an alhambra jugg, drawing marking lines every half inch or so, treading water while holding it upside down and letting it drain all the way out before you stop is a good one. Draw some lines with tape for markers and try to progress, builds a grip of stamina.

Lower back and abb workouts, anything core oriented, get rid of the bar and go to dumbells. Legs are great too, just watch your form and protect those joints.

I know I've posted this before but oh well. The best wintertraining is to just keep riding. Drysuits are about $300-400 bucks and work well.

If your gonna hit the gym do the core exercise routine & really emphasize your legs as well. We incorporate balance into every exercise we do. Squats are done on exercise bubbles and we do a lot of bodyweight things while at rest. Its a lot of fun and incredibly effective.

Snowboarding is probably the best crossover sport that will enhnace your wakeboarding. Outside of snowboarding I do lots of stretching and and some cardiovascular workouts. I would like to do more lifting; however, my schedule(kids) does not allow that much extra time.
