I am hearing a strange noise and getting a slight vibration. Just wondering if someone could listen and see if they can figure out what it is. I am not good with editing so the engine is mostly what you can hear. I added captions to the video where the noise is at. I can't hear it on my phone or laptop speakers very well or at all, but with headphones on I can hear it. Better when I put the treble down and the bass up too.

2012 MB F21 Tomcat - full ballast, 1100# bag in rear locker, 400# bag in front walkway, 1433 prop, 1100 feet elevation, 343 PCM motor.

Only happens when we put the extra ballast in the boat. Is this what cavitation sounds like?

I would think maybe the tranny, since its with the extra weight, but I really couldn't hear much in the vid...all I have are laptop speakers.

Im assuming you are surfing? When you make your boat list, you are changing where the fluid in the tranny is sitting, which can cause it to slip. Not saying this is for sure what is happening, just something to keep in mind. I know its something that happens with our Tige when we weight it too much.

Sorry, forgot to mention that we are surfing at 10.8mph.

Sounds like a ping. Are your running cheap gas? Is your prop too big for the loads? Its like trying to drive up a hill in too high a gear. Sounds like a ping for sure. Not good.

It does kinda sound like pinging. I've read that with some motors the flame arrestor can make a pinging noise as well but I think that it sounds more like a whine when it's the flame arrestor.
