00' X-Star prop upgrade...opinions??

Hey guys,
I'm currently looking at possibly upgrading my prop on my 2000 X-Star with the 310HP predator. I've got a couple suggestion from Bill at ACME but just curious what guys out there are running. I run close to 2K lbs of ballast plus a few people here and there. The stock prop does OK but sure seems to guzzle gas like crazy. Any opinions?

i have an 01 and swapped a prop from a buddies boat, same boat and year...helped plaining alot..i run more around 3500+ plus 3 people...gas always sucks but wake is retarded (really freekin good.) i just dont know what pitch it is...i heard a stock earlier x-30 prop works really good? let me know what you come up with

You can get better performance, but the gas consumption will not change much with a new prop. Follow Bill's advice and get a reduced pitch prop - you will not regret it.

i have a '00 XStar with the 330hp engine. i took Bill's advice from Acme and went with the Acme 1235 prop. i run about 4400lbs +3 people and it works like a dream. gas consumption doesn't really improve, but it seems the engine is working far less.

I think when I had a 99 and 01 X-Star I had the stock 14/20 or 20/14 whatever it was. I went down I think an 18 or even 16. It really helped out with getting on plane. The other thing you'll notice is that it'll hold speed better. When your rider is pulling on the boat just a touch of the throttle will be enough vs. dumping it. RPM's will stay more constant to. You'll see when you do it.

Wow, looks like my 2K lbs is pretty weak guys! Bill recomended the 1591(14.5x14.25)and the 1273 (14x16). I was leaning towards the 1273 because, assuming I have the 14x20 stock prop (boats currently in storage so I can't check for sure), I think the 1591 would be a big improvement and Bill said the 1273 was really aggressive vs stock. I'm hoping to keep an eye out and possibly pick up a used one ($500+ just seems like a lot to me for a new prop) that's why I was just curious what eveyone else was running. Thought it might open my options up a little.

1235: 14.50, 14.25, .105 cup, 4, 1 1/8" LH
1273: 14.50, 14.25, .150 cup, 4, 1 1/8" LH

anyone know what the difference between .105 cup and .150 cup would be? the rest of the specs look the same.

The cup of the 1273 is deeper, drops the RPMs by about 200, slightly slower out of the hole, maybe an extra mph or two on top. I would go with the 1235 if the motor has less than 350hp.

oj 14.75 x 15.5 or 14.25 x 14. i have had both of these props and they are stump pullers, hold the rpm's dead-on and locks the perfect-pass down solidly. call eric johnson at oj props and he'll ask you a bunch of questions (ie- engine, transmission gear-ratio, boat model and year, current prop, altitude, what the boat will be used for primarily, etc). oj had been very good for me and eric is dead on with his advice. he hangs out a lot over on the MC website forum called Team Talk. Tell him Ole Miss Rebels suggested that you talk to him.

also, whether you choose oj or acme, speak with eric or bill first before you buy a prop anywhere. good luck and let us know what you end up getting.
