The guy has 119 remarks for him with 100% positive feedback. Seems legit to me considering the state of the economy right now.

Looks legit and I say run and buy it.

I heard on the Clark Howard show that @$$whipes are selling cheap stuff and purchasing cheap stuff to get there rating up. Once they do, then they bring out the heavy deals and run away with your money. I would as to see it in person and see what kind of feed back you get. I just had a guy that wanted pics of my boat and he was very detailed about what he wanted pics of. I never sent them in since it was a foreign account. I just knew he was going to post my boat on some scam.

it seems kind of weird because the description is only two lines and it says its an inboard outboard that holds 31-40 gallons of gas...

^^^ Exactly, but it's actually worse:

"There is no problems and has been on lift at the lake house. There has been no problems and is great conditions."

Definite scam.

Picking apart the ad is one thing and can be done easily with anyone. Email more specific questions and don't send money until you can confirm that he is the owner of the boat. With any sale, you still have to verify stuff. $.02

Ask for the trailer license and hull id # and what state it is registered in.

TX9970AS. Clealy visible in first pic.

Wasn't there a recent thread on here about being able to track owner info thru a Texas reg# ? Well, there you go.... Use it to your advantage.

Here is what you do. Send him an email through "ask the seller a Question" and say that you live near by and that you want to see it. If it is a scam you will not get an email back.

The feedback @ 119 is hard to get and pretty much a lot of time just to screw someone over on a boat. Your not going to send him a suitcase full of money and hope the guy delivers it. I sure it is legit.

$40k with no bids but the reserve has not been met. Who knows if it's a good deal? Is $47K BIN really THAT good of a deal or owner just wanting to maintain equity?

Likely no trailer? That'd be a few thousand alone on a boat that big?

A deal like this I would negotiate offline. Ask to preview on the water or in real life then work out the details face to face paper in hands. My dad knows people who do high end car deals they usually nullify the auction and work out a deal later on cash/title kinda deal (oldschool?). Could be the deal of the year someone selling for what they owe the bank to get rid of payments who knows.

Guys,
I looked at a 22' MC this last summer and they wanted $100k for the X Star.
What would that 24' go for?

Check out the "buy it now". It's only $47k. The list price on that boat is like $115k.

I had no idea that thing would list for over 100K. That's quite a hit for a one year old boat.

I know someone that just bought a loaded up 2008 210 sante for 35k brand new. People have to unload over head even at a loss

Let me ask a question, what happens to the price of that boat in a few years? Is the new owner going to make a profit or will the value stay low?
Old     (wake1823)      Join Date: Dec 2005       03-11-2009, 7:07 AM Reply
^^^ U buy this boat at the BIN price, hold for 1-2 years, keep in good condition and decent hours, you WILL make money when you sell it.

His name is on the sales sheet. He paid $67,400. Trade in credit of $37,500. Financed $32,230.53. Bought it on 6/3/08 so he's made a few payments on probably just the interest. He probably still owes $32K on it. If he sells it for $47,500 he puts $15,500 in his pocket. Maybe just needs cash like a lot of people nowadays. He's been selling a bunch of golf clubs and has been a member since 99.

I would buy it, but I would pay for it in person. You normally have 7 days to pay, unless otherwise stated (he didn't specify), so that would be plenty of time to take a road trip and check it out. For $47K I can drive for a day or two to check things out.

If if is real they will let you or your 'agent' look at it without requiring some sort of money transfer ahead of time. Do you know someone in TX to scope it out for you? I'm sure a fellow WW would do it as a favor or for some nominal fee.

looks like someone already bought it.

Possibly a WW reader who now thinks he should relist at a higher price

NEVER BUY A BOAT ON EBAY with out TALKING on the PHONE!

I should know I lost $2,500 cause a Tige looked like sweet deal. Oh, and never, ever, ever use Western Union.

I think I'd need a lot more than a phone call to drop $2500 on anything. Maybe $100 deposit..... at most. With the prepaid cell phone plans out there it's pretty easy for a hacker to have a phone one day & no contact info a day later.

Ebay has had issues with accounts being hacked & used to sell things at stupid low prices. Sometimes the hacker will change the contact email address on the account so if you use the "Ask seller a question" link, it sends the message right to the scammer. Other times you will see an email address or phone number in the ad with instructions to contact them directly.

And I'd certainly use a Visa, MC, AMEX, Paypal, etc. so that if there was a claim I'd have recourse with the credit card company.
