Favorite Wake to Ride

What is your favorite wake to ride behind? Mine is probably a loaded down VLX or loaded down Super Air 210 06 or before.

Most pro's are riding vlx's and lsv's loaded up even if its not thier sponsor's boat. Kinda says something. To me nothing compares to a loaded up lsv. B4 Ricky G had to get rid of his, we were running 6000 lbs and nothing's been that good since.

The only boats I've rode behind are mine (2005 Centurion C4 Air Warrior) and 2006 Mastercraft X-2. The X-2 wake was much more rampy, I loved it, but Mastercraft is out of my price range, so my wake works just fine.

6000lbs, OMG! I really like the new super air wakes quite a bit myself. A little easier on my knees and back than the old 210 but still plenty of kick.

Nicely weighted X1, but I've only ridden behind a couple boats besides mine; a prostar 205, Supra Launch 21V, and Malibu V-Ride.

Most wakeboats throw out good wakes, but slammed wakeboats throw out sick a$$ wakes.

there was a Chris a while ago claiming the Epic wake was going to change the industry how good and big the wake was.....Wasn't it Chris Williams???

I agree E Double U. Also, way to inconvienent. How about best wake ridden with stock ballast.

6000 pounds doesnt make the wake any better than the stock ballast, but it does make it waiste high and every time you hit the wake its like hitting a double up. if you have never had the chance to ride a wake that big then i suggest you make that a goal sometime in your wakeboarding carreer.
in my opinion there is nothing out there that will ever beat a malibu.

It just seems like you dont have to work as hard when riding behind a big meaty wake. But i agree, filling up extra ballast is a pain especially when you are out on the weekend and there is butter. then you stop and start filling things up and by the time you get done, three other riders screw up your water... Sux...

Not trying to start an argument just wondering if the bonecrusher throws out a bigger than the epic? Again just a question. Or have u seen the epic wake in person yet? With the idea of 4,000 lbs of balast stock, just wondering. I know your guy's wake is dialed in, but just curious

Jason,if the 6000lbs doesn't make the wake in a Malibu better then just stock ballast.......then no need to waste my time and money trying it that way,you saved me a bunch of hassle.Thanks bud! I'll stick with MC.

Slammed X-star, but there are some side effects, hence the name "BONECRUSHER" and the crutches. HAHAAHA can't wait to ride again.

I normally ride a 03 xstar but i prefer a VLX, i just seemed to be able to predict the pop better and get way more pop from it. Ive never been behind any Nautique but i would like to try it.

Jason, your right. I've never ridden in a boat with that much weight. I probably shouldn't commented. However, I was speaking from the perspective of loading up all that weight. I've only had 3000lbs in my X45 and, like Billy stated, it sux when it's butter and your filling bags.

typically when we have ridden with the 6000 lbs we are either at the lake for more than one day or the boat has about 3000 in lead already in it and were not towing more than 10-20 minutes

The biggest wake I've ever ridden behind was Ed's X2 (205V hull) with just over 3000lbs (and not counting gas or people) in it. It was stupid big! I rode the Epic boat for the 1st time at Spring ride and it was not as big.

With all that said my favorite wake is a SAN 210 or X2 (205V) with about 2000lbs in it. I really like a vert wake though.

nothing beats a weighted LSV and if you want to go stock the VLX with wedge down is at the top of that list. i agree with jason it will be quite some time before anyone get close to malibu in the ease of getting a good wake and wake size.

Here is an 06 with the stock ballast (1250lbs) no wedge plus an additional 1100lbs with 3 people in the boat at 22.5 MPH. The conditions were not Ideal on this day so its a little washed out but still sick.

Wakesetter LSV of course! The biggest wake and most friendly wake out there! :-)

07 22SSV Supra, huge without extra weight.

My favorites:

#1) tied- Supra 21V (min 1500lbs plus people)/Pre 06 SAN (min 1500lbs plus people)
#2) MC 205V hull (min 2500 lbs plus people)
#3) 2004-plus MC X-Star (min 3500 lbs plus people)

I have yet to ride the new 22SSV from Supra, or the New 210 hull.

A loaded up LSV you can ride longer ropes than most boats. 95-100 feet and the wake isn't washing out at all. There's something good about each and every wake though. I have just as much fun wakeskating behind a pwc. Water time...

If I add more weight up front to my LSV will the wake get narrower and will the sweet spot be farther back or will it just make the sweet spot farther back. BTW I run stock plus wedge and the wake is washing out right at 70 ft.

Something like that.... All slammed to the rubrails (except the Epic which handles 4k like it's nothing). I'd like to try the Epic again. That wake is huge, but the last time I rode it I didn't like how vert it was. Think SAN 210 but really big and a very hard, short landing area.

I've ridden behind only 2 wake boats, an 04ish Wakesetter, and an 05, and 06 X-Star.

The wakesetter was much better and i liked it more. It had stock ballast only, and it was the perfect wake.

How do you fit 6K in a wakeboat and what do you have to do to get it to plane? Just curious because I've seen boats with half that weight take forever to get up and running. I can't imagine that with just a prop change, it would make it work. Just curious.

i dont think very many ppl run 6k lbs in their boats.

No,just not impressed with size of the wake AT ALL,It's more shape I'm concerned and IMO Malibu has a speed bump that gets waist high with hardly a lip at the top.

I said it before and I'll say it again...I have NOT ridden a wake bigger/better wake then mine own except an X-Star a few times and will say it was NOT bigger just a nicer shape.

For Me...Sanger V215 with an extra 1000#'s and about 8 people. Not just the size, but the shape

From what i have noticed behind malibus, the wedge can make the wake as lippy as you want it to be. Especially the power wedge.

I've ridden behind several different boats but I still perfer my 04 x2. I think that the shape is perfect. I think that it would be better to spend some money on lessons to learn to edge correctly and not waste money on all of those fat sacks. I'm no pro so if you are really good at ridding than maybe size is really important it makes a huge difference.

Chris Williams - Who are most pros? Didn't Rusty and Danny both land 1080s behind a MC. Correct me if I'm wrong but Rusty rides for MC not Danny. Where are you getting your information. I'm not trying to start an arguement but I was of the opposite thinking, so how did you get to this conclusion.

Rusty has landed two 1080s. One behind his X-Star and one behind Chad's VLX. Both of those boats have sick wakes.

Not too sure but I think Rusty might have done a 1080 behind a malibu too but if the dub is right and those guys are riding good, they could do it behind any companies boat. Some guy's do 900's w2w 6ft high. For alittle while people thought the ronix one board helped danny land a 1080 too. You do that trick in the air so it doesn't matter how a board rides in that case. The way Randy and Lyman ride behind thier malibu's is good proof you can go pretty big behind them. As far as 6k in the boat, we would actually run 4k in the boat, drop the wedge, then once we make it up to speed we hit the fill switch for the tanks then just drain em when you fall. The wake is giant though! MC's have great wakes too. Our family has owned Malibu's for 19 years so I might have a biased opinion. Riding is riding though, I'll ride behind anything.

I'll take my xstar with 3800lbs in it, and 4 chicks!

Rayon does that mean the four chicks weight 3800lbs. Just kidding any weight and four reef chicks makes the best wake even in a john boat.

Sorry Big Ed we like to run alot of weight in our boats. I like a big wake and I can't help that. That's cool if you love your nautique wake and I love them too. I love anything that can pull me though including a winch or pwc. I've only had 15 days on the water in the past 3 years so any riding is tons of fun for me.

No it's not about the wake I like but the wake you like.

Last year I could have swore that you were talking about the Epic wakes like they are going to change the industry but now you are not even saying anything about them just about the LSV.....Did you think you were going to get sponsored by Epic?

Its all personal preference. Some people like to go big, and some people like to go really big. If the most important thing to you when out on the water is a huge wake, (you'll load up a Malibu, haha j/p) you're gonna rock a huge wake. If the most important thing is a booming sound system, you'll rock the system.

To each their own.

I remember PERSONALLY Chris talking up a storm about Epic wakes and now NOTHING.....just wondering what happened and for some reason I'm NOT getting my answer for a couple of days and probably won't.I would say the same if he was saying that the x-star wake was his favorite.

I could care less what wake you or he likes best,just come clean and correct.

Am i missing something chris? A VLX is a Malibu, so Rusty has landed a 10 behind a malibu and mastercraft... is there a third boat he landed one behind?

My all time favorite wake is the Malibu VLX (with lots of extra weight). The LSV is awesome as well, but it's not quite as steep as I like. I've ridden behind just about everything except a newer Supra.

My favorite stock wakes are the v-ride and the 210.

(Note: this is really what's on my mind, and I'm not promoting anything.)

Have ridden pretty much every wake on the market today, Have a lot of favorites, and a few not so much. I've got a SAN 210 that I load up, love the wake. Rode behind Mike Schwenne's VLX for a week, both unweighted and weighted, was way impressed. Have had some good X-Star wakes, too.


Here's the odd part, as far as M/C wakes, have been behind a lot of 'em, and I am more impressed with the X-1 wake than the X-Star wake. IMO the shape of the wake behind the X-1 just seems better, more lip at the top. Load it up and it's huge. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Jeff.... Not at all. I said that forever. It really takes the right X-Star weighting to be better than a X1/X2. When the X-star is great, it's great. When it's not..... It's just not as good as a decent X1.
