I'll expand on my post a little. The Supra Launch is, arguably, the best direct drive wake you can buy. So, you get direct drive handling with a V-Drive caliber wake. If weighted correctly, it can be nearly identical to a 21V wake. With the Nautique, by the time you add ballast, perfect pass, and a bimini top, you're up to $26k. So you're basically paying 5k more for the V-Drive seating on a boat that's 4 years older. As awesome as the Super Sport hull is, the Launch hull is just as established, and there's nothing you'd be able to do behind one that you couldn't behind the other.

Listen to Jeff, he knows what he's talkin' about...

I just have a love affair with Nautiques. Haha.

Jeff,by the time you get the wake where you want it.......your floor just disappeared!

If you want a boat and not strictly for wakeboarding then consider the Supra but after I got a V-drive,DD just wont cut it.

I would get the vdrive Nautique...no doubt

Ed is right. You will have so many sacs in that Supra that you will be climbing over them.

another vote for nautique.

Have you driven either? It's good to get opinions from the board but nothing substitutes for a good test drive/ride, there are just too many variables.

yes, i have. a direct-drive will always drive better than a v-drive. but seriously, how often does a person have to turn on a dime?

Launch's are known for being fairly effecient weight to wake. Maybe not as much as a Nautique, but not bad to say the least. With the built in ballast and 98" beam, there will still be room after you add a couple sacks to get a great wake. But, should you choose the Super Sport, you certainly won't regret that either. Quite possibly the best V-drive wake you can get for under $30k.

CC but I think you should offer 21000 for the Nautique

With perfect pass, some built in ballast and a bimini, not to mention 4 years newer, I'd go for the Launch.

I owned an '04 Launch DD and it was awesome. D-drive handling, V-drive wake.

I believe it depends on what your friend is looking to get out of the boat. If he's looking to have arguably the best wake out there, the nautique is the way to go. If he's looking for a solid wake with a few more amenities and doesn't mind sacks laying all over the place, the Supra's the right choice. The Nauty has a sick sick sick sick wake that can be almost 100% hidden (depending on how much lead you're comfortable shoving in the nose). My friends each have a 96 and love them. As a former direct drive owner, I can say with 100% confidence that I'll never own another.
