It has taken around 40 attempts but I have finally landed and rode away. I have landed about the last 15 but kept falling after only a few feet. This time I rode a few more minutes after landing the 180. I know it's not a big deal but I am still pumped from when I landed it on Sunday. This is huge it was a giant mental hurdle for me to land this and I finally did. Just super excited had to share!

Hey thats awesome man, glad to hear. Its funny, I can land inverts and what not but I still cant get a consistent fs 180, lol. Imagine that eh? Basically I suck at switch riding.

great job. All my riding buddies go for the inverts and 3's and not one of them can consistently land a wake to wake 1. That trick is really fun to learn grabbed nose or melon and add the 180 late too!

I like the idea of grabbing it, that would look sweet, I'm gonna start trying that now.

I learned this trick this year too, it's been kicking my ass for the past two seasons.
Key is to take a very relaxed cut into the wake and wait for the spin. Im still tryin to mix it up with some grabs but its fun to take big.

without a doubt! However....just SLIGHTLY more complicated. I like FS 180 with a poked out tailgrab. Big and steezy!

Dan - That's awesome! I have had the same mental block as well....sometimes I can get it and sometimes I end up stiff as a board and bail. Great job man! Keep it up.

D04 - I am surprised at your compliment after reading your "Wakeboarder Poser"(not cool man) thread. I wouldn't think anything less than a 7 would be worthy of it.

D04,
quite hilarious that you just learned it. You were talking 3's? backrolls? Why in the hell would you ask someone their tricklist when you can barely throw a 180?

Poser?

I'm not a fan of the 'poser' thread either, but I don't think your own level of riding dictates whether or not you ask someone their tricklist. I can do nothing, yet when I meet people to talk about boarding at some point the 'what are you working on right now?' question pops up. I almost think it is more important to learn about others tricklists when you can't do it yourself...that lets me know that, 'Hey, we should go riding together, maybe you could give me some tips on a scarecrow'.

Loren, i gotta friend like that or an acquaintance... he told me how he went to a camp in florida and learned like 5 inverts in a couple days to a week, i forgot... but he said i should go on his boat sometime and he'd show me some stuff

i can't wait till we do that next summer

180's are really fun... the way i learned it was doing 180's off the rollers when we turn around and eventually got it within the day. Still suck at switch riding tho... lol

i ask people tricklist to! i can only do 1's(w2w grabbed) but its cool to know how good someone is. and also, it seems like he wasnt saying ppl who are bad are posers its people who are bad that pretend to be good. we all agree that makes a poser

WHY ARE YOU CALLING A 180 A "1"?!?!? THATS RIDICULOUS
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-27-2007, 5:49 PM Reply
cause he wants to. why are you so upset?

you say that it is no big deal to land it but I think it is a very big deal. Great job!!! I love hearing ANYONE progress, now get out there and ride switch it will really help out I promise.

Man, D04 you sure opened up a big 'ol can of those worms. Just chill and keep on riding hard, stay positive and your riding will speak for itself. I have this surface raley to chiropractor visit that is like no other,, and I ain't posing.

180s are pretty fun, It took me a while to learn them, but i have them solid now, with big nose grabs, im working on my backside 180s now, i got them solid on ollie, starting to work the wakes now.

I also have Ts 180, switch HS 180, ( havnt even TRIED switch TS) my reg Ts is already so bad

I just got my ts 180s w2w a couple weeks ago and i did them back to back on my 1st try reg and switch. I guess i finally grew the huevos to hit the wake hard enough and lean back. I was pumped though.
It opens the door for many new variations for me.

Charles, I was where you are at at the beginning of the summer, although my SW HS 180 was iffy. They still feel weird, but I don't fall on them much anymore. But with regards to your SW TS 180...just go for it. I know it feels so awkward to charge the wake SW TS, but I finally committed one day to doing nothing but TS tricks. I tried and landed 4 or 5 1-wake SW TS 180 and figured...'Why not charge it?' I landed my 3 first W2W SW TS 180's without falling. It had been awhile since I had stuck any new tricks, and it gave me new energy this month to decide to try tricks again that have been eluding me for awhile.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! [sorry dan lennox] don;t bring up that thread, go on that thread to talk about that thread!! sorry to be so obbsesive but I'm pretty sure that whole debate slowed down.

secondly, Congrats Dan, that's a great trick to put in the bag, try a nose, that was the easiest for me to grab, then once you get real consistant try it with a seatbelt[back hand, front of board] super stylie.

FWIW if your sketchy on your Cab 180's and TS cab 180's go back to going wake to wake switch. I had a lock solid Cab 180 and was struggling taking it OA. By going back to just switch W2W I got MUCH better at loading the line, board control etc. It really improved those cab 180's.

Another fun cab 180 is to go cab 270 and bring it back with an indy or tail grab.
