I'm stuck between 2 boats, 1 will come home with me. Assume both have the same options:

'08 X1, brand new, never touched the water - Local
VS.
'07 X2, 300 hrs, used in a dealership's wake school, they are willing to give full factory warranty as if it has 0 hrs. - 10 hrs down the road

I can't decide

That's the way I've been leaning, just thought I would get some outside opinions

Thanks!

X1. Awesome wake. Which engine do they both have? Hopefully the X1 has the MCX.

300 hours is "barely" broken in.. they should be giving you a nice price beak on the X-2 to make it worth while.

There is alot more room in the X-2 compared to the X-1.

X-1 is a great boat.. great for skiiing too

X1 is my favorite boat. That said, the x2 will probably have an easier resale.

Yep, both have the MCX.
The price break is definately good on the 2, but price isn't the issue

If "price isn't the issue"....then that begs the question: "what is the issue?"

if comfort, storage, and room to spread out with a big crew are the issues --> X2

if pure wake machine is the issue --> X1

as stated above, I definitely wouldn't let 300hrs make my decision.

X1 simply for wake quality. The X2 is a nice boatwith loads of space but IMO does not have the wake of the X1.

I have owned both and now in an X15 which I feel offers the best of both worlds. The X1 has a better wakeboard wake, but not the surf wake of the X2. So it really depends on what your going to use if for. Skiing/boarding/small crew go X1, Boarding/Surfing larger crew go X2. If you want the best of all three go X15 with the plate.

Smaller crew, but will use it for both boarding and surfing. Probably more boarding though.

Eric - The hours and the whole local thing are the issues with the X2. My local dealer treats us extremely well.

If you're all about Wakeboarding, get the X1.

X1...with a few k's of ballast is one of the best wake ALL TIME...get the plate option, it will allow you to get more weight in there and plane out quicker, saves a lot of gas.

we ran a plate in the x15 all summer and it works AWESOME.

I own a 07 X1 and love it as it fits MY needs to a T. If you frequently have a large crew, the X1 might disappoint as it will get cramped with over 6 people. You cant beat the wake on the X1 and it skis nice. As for the MCX vs. RTP comment, my buddy has the MCX and I have the RTP and I have been completely satisfied with the RTP and have never been looking for more power. As for resale of X2, I would think a new X1 would resell better with lower hours than a 300 hour X2 and with this economy, I would also think the X1 would be a better value but that is my $0.02.

The good news is you cant go wrong with either. Good luck!

The x1 surf wake can get the job done.. never ridden on an x2 to compare though

yea...I forgot to mention that the 10 hour drive would turn me off a little for the same money....especially if your local dealer is that great to work with.

I will say that I bought and sold my last boat as long distance deals, and the buying didn't go nearly as smooth as the selling but I don't think either went that bad. in the end, it'll depend on which boat you want more. for me...it would be X1 all the way....of course, I'm not a very popular guy and my crew size reflects that. good luck!

If you're wakeboarding, I'm not sure you want more than 4-5 in the boat anyways. Otherwise it's a LONG time between pulls.

X2 is a better package (more space, more comfort) and would be a better boat except for one thing -- the X1 wake ROCKS and for boarding is way better.

My dealer says the X2 surf wake is way better than the X1's. I haven't tried it, though, and find the X1 surf wake just fine.

Jr, what's the plate option you are talking about? I have a 06 X1 and would like to hear more about it.

X1 for wakeboarding. X2 for multipurpose.
Support your local dealer.

Woody,
I believe that jr made a mistake. I do not believe that you can get a factory plate on an X1. He said he used one on his X15 and just assumed that you can get one on an X1.

I'v done some searching and havn't found anyone that has a wake plate on a X1.

I don't think you need one... wake gets pretty flat >32mph

Hard to do better than the X-1 with an MCX, nice find! Nothing like a brand new boat with zero hours.
I'd be afraid of a 300-hour boat used at a wake school, unless it was well cared for.

My vote................X-1!

Most wake schools have to follow a very regimented maintenance schedule. Typically these are great finds because you get full warranty. Make sure the engine warranty does not have an hour limit because most manufacturers don't warranty the engine that is done by indmar or pcm I believe. Now the hull is different and acc are handled by manufacturer.

The ones I've seen from schools (and pro riders) have a number of scuffs and scratches on the fiberglass and upholstery. Those are obvious things you would see on inspection. On the mechanical side a computer scan can tell you a lot about how the engine has been operated. Maintenance records will show time intervals between service. I have a X1 and really like it but I think the X2 line is the number one selling boat for MC. Tough call!
