I have a 2001 Tige 23V and the stearing is stiff both ways. Does anyone know if I can fix this myself? Is there something that I can grease? Or does anyone know if there is such thing as power steering on these boats? Any suggestions?

Pierce,

There should be grease fittings on the inside of the hull right on the rudder and on the rudder end of your cable. Smearing a tiny bit of grease along the cable shaft (that connects up to the rudder) is not a bad idea either.

If that does not cure your problem, then you are probably due for a steering cable change. I believe the insides of the cable are teflon coated and not really "greaseable" and so must be replaced when the teflon is worn.

easy now big boy... mine had the same problem, it was from not lifting the boat high enough and the bottom of the hull sat in the water at high tide corroding the rudder, my dad kicked it and it solved the problem...probly not the best choice but it worked.

maybe so... ive done my fair share of kickin the derned thing... when its working its a great boat, and most of the problems ive had were from this being the our first ski boat and nobody knowing how to take care of it.

Doug...such maturity from your post. Have you been hanging out on the other board lately? That is the kind of response I would expect to find there, but not here.

Anyone followng this board the past couple of monts would know there have been more late model MC's with steering cable issues than Tige's.

I don't think it's the "no sense of humor"......maybe it's just the tireless pokes and jabs of the same few people. Sorry, Doug.
