I just got a new malibu with surf gate and want to start surfing. What is a good board to get?

Budget, weight, skill level, style, etc. are all factors when deciding on a board. A quick description of said self will help immensely.

I have tried surfing once. I want to eventually start doing tricks. A good price range would be under 500$. I weigh about 115 pounds.

LF Doum, Triple X, Soulcraft, Phase 5 Prop, etc. are all good choices under $500. I'm sure there are others, it's just a matter of reading more reviews and potentially demo'ing boards in order to get a better feel for them.

At 115 lbs you want a board between 46"-48"
All the boards listed above are much too big. The Victoria Gremlin 46" is only $350 and the Victoria Factor 48" is $480. Both are made in the USA too.
The Phase 5 Scamp (45") is too small and the Phase 5 Icon (51") is too big.

Lots of lighter riders have been switching of to Victoria lately because they offer smaller sizes. A board that fits you better will allow you to be more comfortable and progress faster since you will have more control.

Victoria also has been a more affordable board too compared to the the many boards in 700 range. The Pixie, Bri Chmel's board and the Agent are great boards too.

Hey Mitch- need your advice. Looking at either a Victoria PCX or Drew Diamond.

About me: 6'0", 175lbs surfing behind a Sanger v215 with 1100 surf side and 500 floor.

I appreciate your expertise.
