I finally figured out today that they are re-opening in march and that Boat and RV world bought it. They are going to make the lake bigger!!!! even though its all ready the biggest cable in the USA. I'm am so pumped. They will have new sliders and such. They will be carying Ronix, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, and others. I'm so pumped cause last summer it was my home... i went there at least 5 times a week. I am so pumped and They will be making it a lot more nice. I was getting tired of sliders and kickers tearing up and hitting nails. But they were pretty good for being only made by a dad and son. well i have also herd rumors that there will be a 2.0 system on the river in OKC. The only thing i don't know are the prices when COW-C re-opens, the date they re-open, or when they will have a web site. Is anyone else totally stoked?!

I'll be checking it out at least once this coming summer... I didn't go last year because I heard the obstacles were few and far between.

Mid America Wakesports
Scheduled opening date March 2009

We are still overwhelmed with all the cleaning up we have to do.We do not plan on making the lake any bigger. Just plan on digging out some dangerous shallow spots. We will be carrying the same brands that boat and rv world currently carries and are talking to other industry brands to see what else is out there. We plan on having 8 - 10 obstacles by the grand opening. We are extremely busy cleaning up the place and making it user friendly. More information and website to come!!

We are excited about the 09 season

Garrett

Oh dude thanks for tell us that i am soooooo pumped to get back on my board. Ya and it is pretty shallow by the dock... are you going to be keeping any of the obstacles allready out there? And one more question, when is the date you will re open?
Old     (nautigarrett)      Join Date: Apr 2008       01-06-2009, 1:50 PM Reply
Not sure on the exact date, but sometime in March for sure. We are not keeping any of the existing obstacles!! If anyone has any input on how to better the park please feel free to let me know.

i would like to request an s box. if you get one of those ill definitely make the drive down there more often. and upgrade the handles....at least get rid of the wood :-)

That is all I want here in tampa GOOD HANDLES!!!!
Old     (snowman89)      Join Date: Mar 2007       01-06-2009, 2:33 PM Reply
The rubber coated handles, and I'm with JD a simple box just like the one at OWC is what I want to see most, and 2 kickers WITH tranny one on each side to satisfy both goofy and regular heelside needs.

And what's up Garret long time no see this is Darren I was in the wakeboard club a year ago. Are you still at OSU man?
Old     (trevo55)      Join Date: Oct 2007       01-06-2009, 2:53 PM Reply
a simple box as stated above and a simple flat flat bar would sick
Old     (bendow)      Join Date: Sep 2005       01-07-2009, 1:15 PM Reply
yes...rubber handles are a must!

You need a concrete path around the lake to walk back on when you fall. It killed my feet with all those stickers poking me walking back.

I went there when it first opened and the rope length wasn't right...not sure if that has been fixed.

A good kicker. The kicker they had when I was there I had to edge in like crazy just to muscle out a 5 foot scarecrow.

Also might want to consider some type of wind block similar to what OWC to help lessen the chop.

Have a kicker like the small white one that is on the right side of the cable and make it have good pop. S box defantly, handles, rope lenths are fine as they are now... or were, have a really long flatbar rail like the one at kc watersports thats jus under 100 feet, a sweet S box like owc, and a good sidewalk! hahaha

I don't care AS LONG AS you make concrete pavement around the lake.... Like Ben said.... Walking through the stickers and rocks are pain in butt!

cowwboy did you give up bikes or just picked up another hobby? I think you must be a member on every web forum there is. Its good to see you again drop me a line.
Old     (cowwboy)      Join Date: Jul 2008       01-27-2009, 4:33 AM Reply
Yeah after it getting so bad that when I got the bike out had pd on my ass everywhere I went.
That and you can only bury so many friends before you start to think of a different hobby.
It was just a matter of time before my next "drop two gears and disappear" turned me into the next matt.
That and the best thing is when you go riding you can only have one girl on the back. At the lake I can fit 8 or 9 bikini clad ladies on there.

We all need to kick it soon. Maybe grab dinner catch up with you and amanda.

"rope lenths are fine as they are now"

"and please change the rope lenghts shorter!"

You got it right the first time. It's going to be hell on your arms if it goes any higher.

Here is what MAWI needs to stand out and let riders shred the park...
1. An A-Frame or Relentless style slider (possibly with transfer box like on tour/tsr
2. A LONG Roof top rail
3. and then some kind of box/slider combo that no one has seen before to really attract riders and make the place stand out

(the old cable built obstacles for little kids and left room for no progression which clearly reflected on the customers they had, so build it for the big boys and everyone will come! can't wait and hope ya'll do it right)
Old     (stew_barns)      Join Date: Oct 2008       02-15-2009, 9:39 PM Reply
building long boxes and flat bars.... those are clearly the kids that were at the old cable everyday, dont ruin it for everyone. Just step up your game, you'll thank me for it in the long run
Old     (wakeboardingzach)      Join Date: Jun 2008       02-16-2009, 10:52 AM Reply
No its so much easier to load the line if they are shorter and idc if they will be hell on my arms. And other than that i totally agree with Stewart. I will hit anything that mawi makes. Make it good!

yes! better handles, long flatbar, rooftop and A frame rail, long funbox, and kickers!!!! oh and an iceberg! those are really fun. like the one at TSR! dude zack shutup. longer ropes!!
Old     (brendonwilmoth)      Join Date: Dec 2008       02-16-2009, 3:57 PM Reply
we need shorter ropes retard

ya austin your stupid. haha
Old     (connerthurston)      Join Date: Jun 2008       02-17-2009, 5:25 PM Reply
zach, brendon, and austin! you guys dont know what your talking about! haha we need a flat bar, A-Frame, Booters With Transition, and a Transfer Box like TSR's and i totally agree with stewart if they come out with a sick new type of obstacle that no one else has in the US it would really attract more riders. EX... O_Dubs "nesse"
and TSR's Ice Berg Box those obstacles are so much fun. we need like a long box with a booter on the end and a wall ride on each side that would be sick.....oh and if you shortened up the ropes about 2 1/2 feet that would give the cable a little better pop all around
Old     (okcwakebrdr)      Join Date: Dec 2004       02-17-2009, 5:44 PM Reply
Guys.... have ya'll been to OWC in orlando? Not to take anything away from Guthrie....but i don't think it's the biggest Cable in the U.S. I have rode at OWC and Drove past TSR a few times. OWC has 2 lakes there, 3 if you count the boat lake, and the beginner cable looks 5 times the size of the lake in guthrie. And the regular cable with all the obstacles on it is still probably bigger than the one in Guthrie. But i could be wrong.

dude does any one know the prices?????
Old     (dlwsrider)      Join Date: Apr 2007       02-17-2009, 6:24 PM Reply
My favorite obstical there was the UGP rail. It was extremely wakeskater friendly, had an awesome heigth for the drop, and was easy to get tech on. Another easy to hit up to flat like that would be fun. Keep a few rails simple, and keep the skater's in mind.

dude connor thats like exactly what i said besides the rope thing.

As far as biggest goes. I don't know. Doesn't really matter. That is something the previous owners advertised. We plan on having a variety of obstacles for beginners advanced and wakeskaters. I will post up the pricing tomorrow.

We will have boat and rv world completely moved out there by the end of this month. Feel free to stop by anytime in march and check it out and let us know how to better the park. You are going to see some drastic changes!!

Month passes are a great idea. We will have to see!
Old     (dlwsrider)      Join Date: Apr 2007       02-23-2009, 8:32 PM Reply
Month passes are a fantastic idea, and most Cable parks do have them. Respect the opinions of others, and you will recieve more yourself. That's how these forums work.

Another idea is week or 5 day passes. These are great for people who take a week off to go ride cable and travel out.

Does anyone have any pics of the new sliders or kickers? And ha i have seen people buy them out there before and they never end up going that much. But its what ever. haha im getting a season pass no matter what the day they open!

Wow, the prices there are cheaper than the amount that previous owner of COW-C charged... sweet!
Old     (wakeboardingzach)      Join Date: Jun 2008       02-24-2009, 3:15 PM Reply
No not to bag on them or anything but if you add it all up it is more. Cow-c charged for about 51 dollars if you didnt have anything and you wanted a slider board. It will be 72 now if you dont have anything and want to ride rails...But if you have your equiment it looks like its cheaper...
Old     (hughes144)      Join Date: Apr 2008       02-25-2009, 8:15 PM Reply
What I do remember is that it costs 42 dollars for all day pass last year. so are you saying that it only cost 9 dollars for all of the equipment rental for all day too?? Doesn't make sense. it doesn't matter to me anyway since I only need a pass, nothing else.
