boat insurance help

So I'm closing in on selling my quad and looking hardcore for a early model sunsport or sunsetter. 23 year old single male. What kind of insurance rates should I expect?

Global Marine Insurance writes mine at about $360 a year. I am older and have a lot of documented navigation and small-boat training.

I have a Malibu LSV valued with gear at over 50K. I have Boat U.S. and its around $360.00 a year.

Boat US they only insure boats . They do stated value and freeze coverage. I pay 495 for my 08 210 and 151 for my 89 Sunsport 12k stated value.

Man how are you guys getting such low rates? I have a 09 X2 valued at $55K and the trailer at $1900 and I am paying $900 a year. I also go through BOAT US.

$208.00 for my 1989 nautique 2001 valued at 20k with gear and trailer.

635 a year for a 2010 vlx and extreme trailer, maximum limits on all

Well I guess It is technically Tampa Bay but to me all saltwater is the ocean

If you insure it like a car it's way cheaper, buuuttt, you're not covered for storage or contents (at least with my insurance). I put mine on my homeowners policy which is about $750 a year, but everything is covered. Boat, trailer, gear, speakers, everything, and replacement is full purchase replacement price, not NADA for the year. You just have to decide what you want to risk, and the year of the boat and total value will also dictate a great deal of the price. (2008 Epic)

Not one poster mentioned deductible on your policy or the liability limit carried...
Rates are regional and wind/huricane areas or open water(ocean)always cost more...
Value determination desired: Do you need stated value, replacemnt cost or actual cash value? policy form translates into cost...
Boater experience, driving record, principle operator age,navigation area, lay up periods, diminishing deductibles etc... all translate into premium $$ paid..
Pollution coverage included? Wreck removal? Protection and indemnity or split limits on the liability? What level of liability coverage is desired? Are you ina at fault state or non fault state?
Does you carrier charge additional premium for additonal insured's for say a private lake or club?
What are personal property options available? Do you have a high medical limit? = you should...
Is the carrier marine specific or are you purchasing a morphed auto ins policy on your vessel. Who will the adjuster be post loss an independant or company adjuster with marine experience?
My point is there are too many variables to really compare online in this type of forum....
Good place to ask questions and seek information desired to obtain a quote for your specific risk, but not a good comparrison....
