I have been looking for the right deal on a boat for the last couple of months. In my search i have come across a number of Mastercrafts with replacement engines in them. I have not even bothered to call because i was always advised to stay away. '
Is that still the case?

One thing to keep in mind is the engine has nothing to do with the boat you choose to buy since they are two different companies. Now if you have a preference to Ford or Chevy that is different. I have a 2001 SAN that I had to put a new engine in over the winter, it is just one of those unfortunate things that you have to do but in no way would it discourage me from buying another Nautique. You could have the same thing happen to your car you are driving now.

CAR, Have you had any trouble with the new engine? I understand what you mean about the motor and boat being two different companies. I am concerned that the motor or even transmission maybe have further issues down the road

My new engine runs perfect I guess cause it is new. I did get 3 more years of warranty as well with the new engine rather than with a re build.

I have a 21' Lavey Craft. ten years ago the boat got a new motor from a local motor builder now ten years later because I didnt know I need to change my H2O pump every other year I now just last weekend on oroville baked my motor and have to do a complete rebuild. But in retrospect I got ten years out of a hopped up 350hp race motor that I ran the ever livin piss out of. so I wouldnt be to scared of an old boat with a new motor I would conciter it a blessing. I mean come on your getting a new motor in an old boat. lets face it motors dont run forever and they get totally abbused on the water. just remember what BOAT stands for BREAK OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND or in my case THREE THOUSAND
good luck
Jay
