I know the old thread is getting a bit long and takes a while to load for some, so I'm starting this new one.

I'm stoked to start it with his latest update that includes a video you just have to check out: http://www.wakeworld.com/news/2004/dean3.asp

Wow, simply amazing! Danny, thank you so much for sharing that with us. I'm glad that all of us were able to help you in some way. Sweet riding in that vid and I'm looking forward to seeing you go that big in the future, you'll be back on the water in no time! Congrats again with everything.

Wayne Gretzky once said something along the lines of "you miss 100% of the shots that you never take". You've taken all of the shots and scored each time. I believe that you're a true inspiration for those who say they can't. You can't do anything unless you put your mind to it.

Danny,
I don't believe we've ever met, but I've followed your progress since your accident. I wanted to write in and let you know that your video is one of the most awesome things I have ever seen. I work in rehab., and the distance you have come in just a few short months is truly amazing. When you pushed away that walker leaving Barrow I was yelling and cheering out loud in my apartment! You have given me renewed energy and confidence regarding recovery from illness and in the power of the human spirit, and I will be able to pass that extra energy on to the patients that I work with. So you see, your energy and strength already spreads out to others in ways that you might not even realize. I'm sure you affect many, many others in similar ways, as is obvious from the comments that so many people have written in with already. We may never fully know how your story is triggering chain reactions and resulting in improvements in the lives of others, but rest assured that it is in big ways.

You are the greatest example of a human being! Keep it up!!!!

Danny,

Those Tantrums off the DU in that video were insanely HUGE and slow. SICK! I can't wait to see you riding again. How soon do you think it will be before you can attempt to ride? I know you're thinking about it!

Wow, Danny.
I've learned a lot about the character of the folks on this site over the last year. Many of them are willing to help a fellow boarder they've never met.
In addition, a lot of us have been injured riding and have seen the other side and I think that's why so many are truely concerned with your progress. I could only imagine your struggle. I shattered a femur on a DU Tantrum eight years ago. You experience a lot of emotions and it's tough, but it does give you a new perspective on life and makes you grateful for what you do have.
Thanks for the reminder and congrats on your victories thus far.

You're making grown men cry (that's OK in my book).

Rock on brother! Perhaps the next video you share with us will be of your first time back on a board, or you walking down the isle with your beautiful bride. Either would be great to see. Keep it up, you are an inspiration to all of us.

Wow. Like many on wakeworld, I have followed your progress and watching the video was truly amazing. You are an inspiration for everyone. I bet being in the pool was refreshing and healing for you. Keep up the hard work. I foresee a new ending to your video sometime in the near future, similar to the opening of the video but with new tricks. Great Job on the video.

Danny,

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! Keep up the fight! I too had a bad accident, but a long long time ago and much less severe. I read the original post when your injury occured, and I felt terrible. Seeing the VID and reading your words are extremely inspirational. I wish you all the best and that all your dreams come true.

For all of us, wakeboarding is one of the high points of our lives. We do all we can to get to the water and feel that board take off. Seeing you working hard and staying upbeat makes me sure you will be back at it soon. Stay strong, there are lot's of people cheering you on.

Take Care,

To Dave Williams, et. al.

I am overdue in saying thanks for the terrific efforts on your behalf to help and support Danny. I keep reading posts and emails stating that Danny's story is an inspiration to them. Let me say, in return, that it is people like those in the WakeWorld community that inspire me and my family. No finer folks exist. Danny's recovery is directly proportional to the support of so many wonderful human beings. The world is truly full of these uplifting souls. What a neat validation to learn!

Our heart-felt thank you to you and them!

well you guys got me back for the video with this thred.

your words of encouragement are so perfect for me right now.

it's funny because when i made the video i didn't really even preview it until all the pieces were in place. i rendered it out and watched it with natalie and we both couldn't hold it back either. it was like the video was there just waiting to be made through me instead of me making the video... if that makes sense.

anyways, thanks again! i'm glad i can be an instrument to help inspire and serve. nothing is more gratifying.

great ideas for future videos. i'll be sure to have them up on wakepics.com if nothing else.

DocOc - thats probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me

J-rod - my goal is to be riding next summer. i dont think i'll be able to repeat my old tricks then, but hopefuly someday

I think I posted this on the wrong thread so i'm gonna try again.

HOWZIT DANNY: Greetings From South Africa
I've only been wakeboarding for a few months now and have entered a few local competitions already.

But one thing struck me as the comp went on: ALL THE COMPETITORS WERE CHEERING FOR EACH OTHER. Even though the novices (incl me) went first, all the more experienced guys that compete on national level were clapping and shouting for the little guys, sometimes also giving advice. There's no snobbishness or anyting like that. The wakeboarding community is definately an unique breed of person, always helping out his fellow man (or woman) whether it be a competitor or just a friend.(Show me another sport where that happens!) Witnessing what is happening on your side of the world, with all the support that you're getting is testimony to that.

Get well soon and I will DEFINATELY be waiting for that video clip of you getting up on that board.
Cheers & Good luck!
Tim.

WOW Danny! Its been a long long road, it's coming, but slowly. That video was the most inspiring thing that i've ever seen in my life. I literally had to hold back my tears. I hope everything is going well and i cant wait for the wedding, to see you (my cousin) walking down the isle with a very beautiful woman. I hope to be there a bit early before the wedding to get some playing time in down there. I wanted to get down there for spring break, but i had baseball. Well keep up the good work/progress, and i will talk to ya soon. I hope your on the water by next summer, because remember that we got this wakeskate that needs to be broken in.

Danny,
I think DocOc really summed it up!!!! What more can you say, you are really an inspiration to all who delve into the world of hazardous recreation. Keep up the hard work and know that they are probably 10 times the number of people who know and read of your situation and care for you, they just haven't posted up yet, but they're out there!!! Peace and Congrats!

Danny, I am so glad to see the progress you have made. Praying for you man. I was also injured pretty bad the day after Christmas of 03, shattering my ankle, and breaking my foot and leg. The doctors almost had to amputate but I truly believe that because of all the prayers that were going out, that I still have my foot. After 3 months on crutches I am now down to a cane and pushing myself to work hard on getting better every day. Keep it up and maybe we'll meet someday on the water :-)

Danny - Jeff was the first to see the video in our family. I'm glad he was able to watch it by himself the first time. When he called me to the computer I just watched in awe with tears rolling down my face. Happy tears that is. Even though we all knew in our hearts that if it could be done, it'd be you to do it - I still couldn't believe my eyes. I have watched it over and over and still can't watch without crying. We are all going to be so happy when we can see it FOR REAL, IN PERSON. We are so proud of you and know you won't stop until you've tapped every medical miracle possible. In fact, we expect nothing less. By the way, your little Natalie is just adorable, can't wait to meet her. KEEP IT UP. - Love your Aunt, }Paula
