I'm trying to help out a friend who is new to wakeboarding (1st year). He's 240 and is in desperate need of a durable board. He got a Harley which I'm not familiar with. The Harley only a few weeks old is bubbled up underneath the binding and super shetchy. LF won't replace it until he breaks the board in half first (hopefully not his ankle). What boards/brands are recommended for a 6'2 240lb guy? I'm not sure who recommended that board to him but IMO doesn't seem to be the right board for a beginner/big guy...

if he wants a durable board i can get him on a Phalanx CW 425, which is essentially a 143. Should be just fine for his size, and its a super strong board.

im 6'2 205 and it made a big diff. for me when i went from riding a 142 to what i ride now which is a 2011 146 marek i would highley recomend going to at least 144. I have better pop, softer landings, and more important i dont sink my board. Have i snapped a couple? yes. but have been riding this one for a very long time.

Any of the slingshot 146 boards (Recoil, Response etc..) should do the trick quite nicely! they are a little loose but in the end it will help him to ride properly and not rely on fins so much. Def agree with Ryan, would not go shorter than a 144.

I'm a big guy myself that has been around the sport for a long time, the truth is it's not always the best thing to go to a 144 and up. Im at about 240 to 250 and have been for like the last 8 years or so. I can't stand anything over like a 142 or a 143. Once you start gettin big than that the way they come off the wake is weird, I don't like the way they pop. In the 16 years wakeboarding I have rode A LOT of boards, and the biggest thing for a big guy board is a wide tip/tail. That makes a bigger differents than anything!! Im on the 2012 Marius and love it, but IMO the best board for a big rider, the board that change my life as a rider. Was the 06-10 Marius. If I could get my hands on a few 08-10 I would still be on one. It will him on top of the water, Still feel like a wakeboard, and land soft. If he can get a 08-10 marius he will be a very happy man.

Humanoid Plank 141 - wide and comfy for sure. Big guys whom I know are very happy with this.

My big buddy rides the 146 vibe. Its huge and he has no issues. Hes 6'5 270. You can usually find them cheaper because no one needs them that big

I would go around a 144. I'm 6'2" but only right around 200lbs. I've been using a hyperlite premiere 141 and I feel like I wish I had a little more board under me.

A flex board is not good for a big rider on wake. So he really should stay away from a flex board of any kind. With a big guy anytime you hit the wake it will go flat and it will feel like he is just going though the wake. He will get no pop, he will snap them left and right. He needs a wakeboard not a noodle.

Interesting thread? I am 6'3" 235 and ride a ronix 1 146? I love the board but I don't get much pop off the wake. Probably bad riding skills more than anything. Is this a good board for me?

I broke 2 watson classic 142s last year, so I switched to the hybrid. I'm 6'6" and 225, and the hybrid pops me better than just about anything I've ridden, plus it has stood up to infinitely harder landings than the watson classics did (lots of flats stuff).
