All the injury threads have been getting me down... I've been riding off and on for 3 years, got an X1 in April, and went hard all summer... plenty of sore muscles, mildly sprained ankle, but nothing major... who else has been mostly healthy and for how long??

I just had a wierd injury yesterday, I was wakeskating in perfect butter (I didn't have my wakeboard with me)....when I say butter it was possibly the smoothest I have ever seen my lake. Anyways, I did a backside 180 and leaned too far over my toes. I fell away from the boat and my legs flew straight out. Somehow my foot caught right in the handle and i was dragged across the lake for what seemed like an eternity. It hurt like hell, I only sprained my anke and tweeked my groin but the worst part was the "rope burn" that it caused, although it wasn't actually rope burn.

LOL, yeah I don't want to jinx myself but I've never been hurt on my board. 9 years and still going strong :-) Worst thing thats ever happened is I got the wind knocked out of me and saw some stars while wearing a non-approved vest. Not smart for a guy my size. That was pretty scary. I'm lucky though, I've played basketball since I was 8 or so and I've never turned my ankle bad enough to miss more than a day. I think some people are more injury prone, some people get ahead of themselves trying things they aren't ready for and some people just get unlucky. If you take time to get comfortable on your board before you go HUGE then you can learn how to fall without hurting yourself. Just my opinion.

I haven't hurt myself wakeboarding for about 6 or 7 years. Snowboarding though, thats a different story.

You wakeboard long enough and you will get hurt. You gotta pay to play. It'll likely happen when you're least expecting it, too. Maybe on a trick you've done a thousand times and got lazy with..... Good luck.

I'm emotionally injured every time I can't land the trick I'm trying. Does that count?

What I have learned is if your trying new tricks more than likely you will get hurt sooner or later. But the reward of landing something new out weights the pain and injuries in my eyes.

...no injuries in 4 years...I had this exact thread before....but it seems there is a superstition about talking about it. Wakeboarding is a tough sport......but apparently so is talking!

I'm surprised at how many people put off concussions as no big deal! your head is far more important than knees or shoulders...IMO

I blacked out for a few minutes last weekend after a nasty fall but luckily no concussion, just a bad headache for the rest of the day. Other than that I've been free of any major injuries for the past few years. I'm sure all you superstitious guys are gonna think that I'm guarantying my self a ticket to the emergency room by saying this on this thread but I don't believe in superstitions. It just makes your life too stressful

2 shoulder and 4 knee surgeries with 9 years of wakeboarding and 13 years snowboarding = good times even with that price tag!! But uh...give me a few months to recover from the knee surgery that I just had today and I'll be good to go - again.
