Question about New Hogan, how is the day use area. It has been a long time since I have been to New Hogan and when I was there I wasa on the boat all day. We are planning on making aday trip on Saturday 5-27-06 with some family so we will have a few people on shore so I just wanted to make sure the area was ok. If you have any pics that would be great. I do understand that it will probably high water levels but it probably better than trying to find a beach at New Melones.

We go there virtually every weekend. The water is HIGH! So high that there is only one ramp, the other "main" ramp and associated parking is under water. As of yesterday, the one remaining dock has a section broken, so getting on and off the water is a problem and I can imagine that it'll be wild for Memorial day weekend. About three weekends ago, when we had that first good weekend of warm weather, there was some altercation where a guy head butted someone for walking between his truck and trailer on the ramp...as if it wasn't crowded enough already, add two park rangers, a sheriff and highway patrol vehicles on the ramp. :-)

Just add beer for a good time. :-)
