I was thinking of trying some wrapped tricks this summer, Obviously I wanna take a stab at some left hand grab- back side spins, but then I thought "well what if i try a 'wrapped' tantrum?" will the end result be a cheater way of doing a whirly? or will it end in alot of pain and death? theoretically, it could work, but I may be sorely mistaken. any thoughts?

it wouldn't be a whirly because that's with an overhead 3. You could in theory do a wrapped moby dick but I don't know how well it would go. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

Most people pass Moby Dicks early off the wake anyway. I'd imagine that's all it would be. Should be totally possible.

I think a wrapped Tantrum is called a wrecking ball. I can't remember who did them though, maybe Briscoe?

wrapped Moby Dick is called an Iron Cross, Shapiro does them in Six Pack ( I beleive) it's totally possible and not that difficult if you can do a tantrum and a wrapped spin, a wrecking ball is a wrapped whirly.

So what's the different between a whirlybird and a moby dick when you take the handle pass out the equation? They're both a tantrum with a BS 3.

i'd say a mobydick is inverted where as a whirly is more laid out(body parallel to the water) i think it would be super hard to do a true whirly wrapped.

If you do a whirly properly its just as inverted as a moby dick, like throwing a crow out the back vs doing half a front roll up over the top and then doing the 180 on the way down. The only difference btw whirly and moby is handle pass vs overhead... How would a wrapped whirly (wrecking ball) go? Would you wrap while holding the handle in your front hand, so have your front arm across your body to your back hip and the rope wrapped around your back? Because a whirly is a front hand trick.

I never understood the difference between a wrecking ball and Iron cross, other than Darin would take the handle hand and put it straight out, making it look like an cross.

Murray posting just reminded me of how much his original Detention videos helped me. I am totally self taught and that video alone helped me stomp at least 5 tricks back when I was riding a lot. He breaks it down pretty darn well.
