I tend to ride with about 6 people and it gets tiresome putting boards under the seats. I'm worried about WHERE to mount more racks. Would on top of the tower work? What can you guys suggest as good racks that will work with the X-Star (new model).

Thanks Josh for that E-mail. That's definitely one way of doing it, and is definitely in the running as an option.

Kent--I was in an X-Star last year in Reno that had an extra set mounted thru the holes that are on the tower below the normal racks. They had to drill thru the mounting plate on the racks, but not do anything to the tower. It seemed like a pretty good setup.
You could always get the aluminum bimini that has racks for 3 boards on top. That's what I have and wouldn't have anything else.

I've attached a pic of Joshua's boat. He actually sent me a video of his buddy riding. This is a screencap from the video showing the placement of the third rack.

Thanks for the idea, but I'm a little leary about drilling through the tower. As for the bimini, we already have one and the "rack" one you have is really $$$$.

kent - re-read travis' post -- appears to me he only had to drill through the rack not the tower... he may be on to something there.. good luck w/ your choice.

Buy the new bimini that holds 3 boards on top. We love ours and it's super easy to take on and off.

I agree with Matthew. I have the same bimini and it's awesome.

And, you don't have to drill thru the tower. You know how there are half inch holes on the sides of the tower? They just had bolts that went thru those to the board racks.

Travis,

The boat is in storage right now so I can't mess with it. But if I understand what you mean, you're talking about removing the bolts that are on the rear legs of the tower and bolting new racks in there. I've never removed any of those bolts, I figured they were just there for aesthetics, but doing that is a great idea. That's where they would look best for sure.

Kent,
I forgot about the older ones having those bolts. The new ones just have holes there with no bolt in it. I'm pretty sure you could take those right out though.
