How much power for NVS Tyrants?

What kind of amp would you pair these tower speakers with and would I have to get an equilizer?

With the right amp you should'nt need an EQ. I like Rockford-fos best.

would suggest a zapco 750 / zapco 1100.1 or arc amps in the same high powered size...

You should think about getting some kind control so you can turn them down quickly if needed. The least complicated is a simple switch on the amp turn on lead, the most sophistocated is probably an EQ with fader knob. Going through menu's when you need to turn them down is not fun.

A good four channel amp strapped to two channels pushing more than 400 watts to each should suffice. There are some cheap options and some expensive options. If you have the money Zapco and Arc are great options. If you want something more cost effective the old PPI 4125 is what Duane ran for years. It's a power hungry beast but it will push them fine. They are available on e-bay from time to time. I expect more digital amps to come to market next year. CES is in January.

i do agree with mikeski about the zapco costing a little bit more... they are reasonably priced on the used market imo..

however they do offer more than just reliable high power and when you add everything up the cost is just about the same or a smige more...

here are some reasons to consider zapco with symbilink options:

-built in line drivers (increase the line voltage to 6d to 12 db (12v if i remember correctly)

-balanced operation (no alternator hum/hiss...very quiet...this is needed due the most systems are horn based and the amps are generally run "wide open'

controllers - you can add a symbilink volume control to the amp and keep your interconnects as short as possible.

by eliminating long interconnects and additional line drivers you save alot of install time and some money (you will need a symbilnk volume control about $40)

the nice thing is you have a balanced, well enginered system rather than trial / error one...i have never heard anyone regret installing one once they see, operate, and hear one..
