How do you prevent cracks from getting bigger? I just noticed a 2-3 crack yesterday in my new boat and I don't want it to get any bigger or cause problems.

You can't do squat. Gel coat cracks have several cuases, but very little you can do. Most cracks are caused my gel coat too thick. The fiberglass flexes more than the gel coat can and it cracks. Other causes, fiberglass too thin, fiberglass absorbing water, poor gel coat mix, impact to hull, etc.

If it is a new boat, your dealer will fix it right away. Small stress crack are not that uncommon within the first year.
