Ok, so I tried a few of these like 5 years ago (never landed any) and just started trying some again this year. I've read a million tips on this trick and watched all the videos, but I just never have been able to comprehend trip flips...this is why I have gotten and lost my tantrum a ton of times over the last 6 years.
So of the 10 or so I've tried, I got close on a few that I popped really well and then the others I pretty much never left the water and the toeside edge of my board got eaten up by the wake. I attribute this to not riding up the wake and trying to flip in the trough. I think the biggest thing in my head is when to flatten off and what I'm watching for and when to throw my head down. I guess a couple of times (more so several years back) I guess I flattened out too much riding up the wake on my heels because I flipped backwards instead of forwards!
So any tips on getting the correct pop? The times I have popped well I rotate nicely (try to do more frontroll rotation first and then 180 on the way down) and landed on the board but just under-rotated a bit. This trick seems easy but the pop is the issue for me. Trip flips screw with my head!
