Ryan, I read a few of your quotes in one of the articles for USA Today, glad to see your crew is overcoming the difficulties!

Thanks Caleb, it was a gong show for a few of the events because of technical difficulties. It's really sad since some of the competitors will have to wait another 4 years to have a shot at a medal.

i couldn't have said it any better. i watched curling and figure skating today for cryin' out loud! i still don't even know how curling is scored, but what the heck! also, been watching hockey, speed skating, skiing and of course, snowboarding. gotta love the olympics!

Hope I'm not the only one that caught the Canada/Swiss hockey game yesterday. Incredible game. Cannot wait until Sunday for Canada vs. USA.

Bode going for gold in the Super-G today should be awesome to watch.

Nope, great game... IMO you could really tell the difference in skill levels in the shoot out. Not one of the Swiss SO attempts was even a good shot...

I watched it Manzo, Hiller is my boy, he almost stole it for the Swiss. Sunday is the big day. USA! USA! USA!

Hiller stood on his friggin head.

That glove save off of Getzlaf (I think) was amazing and second only to the pad save 2 seconds before it!

Anyone see Russia and Slovakia last night? I fell asleep in the 3rd (about 1am for me) and it went to a shootout. I am mad I missed it. Slovakia, Russia, and Czech Rep all have very good teams this year. I was thinking Canada or the USA would steamroll this tourney; but, now I am eating my words. This is going to be a very good medal round when it comes. USA v CAN is going to be nuts on Sunday. I can't wait!!!

Yeah I stayed up for the Russia vs Slovakia game. Ovechkin was 1 for 3 on shootout attempts and it seemed like too many guys were just taking shots so it took forever. Really good game though.... GO USA

Cross country skiing is on now. Wow, is there any Winter Olympic sport that is more boring to watch?

Time to go have a beer.

I keep waiting for Jeremy Roenick to snap and knock out one of the other two announcers up the booth with him , man is there some serious disdain (it seems) among that group

Good nite for Speed Skating.

Shanni got silver and Ohno got his 7th medal and becomes the most decorated in Winter Olympics.

Great job guys!!!!!!!

Agreed Sinko. I met JR when he was here for the all star game a few years back. Really cool guy, smart ass attitude which I love. Those other announcers are definitely picking fights with him. I'm waiting for him to literally toss them from the booth.

My only compliant about the Olympic hockey is that it is not on the Olympic ice. The skill of these NHL all stars is better showcased on a larger surface (IMO); however, I do get the economics of selling more seats.

Go USA! I call a 5-3 USA game tomorrow.

They are having plenty of issues already with these Games, no snow, bad ice, an athlete death.... Poor sportsmanship by the host nation fans would be insult to injury....

I think the story is that he keeps his sticks from each Olympic Win and he pre-marks them.

I think he also keeps a puck from shutouts or something to that effect....

Today is definitely a good day for hockey. I've got all the games set to DVR and can not wait to get home! Americans have the best draw and if they can get past Finland should make the medal round. Now to just get past Jonas Hiller, that boy can play! Looking forward to a great Canada/Russia game, I sure would like to see Rick Nash light up Ove tonight, especially after that hit he put on Jagr.

I don't know why Ovechkin invokes such disdain from people.... He is quite possibly my favorite player not on the Avalanche....

That hit on Jagr was epic....

That hit on Jagr was epic

Edit: It was a good hit but when I first watched it I wondered what all the fuss was about. I don;t know that it was that great.

I don't know why Ovechkin invokes such disdain from people

IMO he is dirty with the preferential treatment and extra latitude that he gets from the NHL. That and similar to Crosby they like to act like they belong on the 10m platform during the summer Olympics they dive so much. He's got great talent but I cannot get over the diving and dirty play.

"That hit on Jagr was epic "

It wasn't the hit itself, it was the play that the hit created. Ovechkin knocked Jagr (Who had his head down) on his ass, took the puck, then made a great pass to create a 3-1, which he was the high guy on and sucked the 1 d to him, and Russia then scored back door. It was a great hockey play started by solid body check. Jagr was pissed he got knocked on his ass, yes, but he was more pissed he gave up a turnover which lead to a goal.

For the record, I can't stand Crosby and will be rooting for Russia tonight.

It's not so much that I don't like AO (I much prefer his hard-nosed brand of hockey to Crosby's bitchiness). I also like to see balance restored. We all know Ove is going to be flying around like a madman tonight and I think it would be cool to see someone light him up! The only thing I don't like about his game is his intentional knees.

The play on Jagr was impressive. Clean, hard hit. I just hate to see an icon like Jaromir getting de-cleated.

it seems pretty unsportsmanlike to me to be posting about hoping the Canadians don't get a medal in whats probably our favorite sport as a country on home soil none the less.
then again, i'm Canadian so what i'm saying should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

Does it get any better then these hockey games? I'm already fired up for tomorrow's semis.

Canada is the best team and it's not really close but it's hockey so we'll see. Going to be an epic gold medal game if its USA vs Canada but it's going to be nearly impossible to beat a team that good twice in one week.

As for the "Canada hate" I thought there was "overcelebration" for a prelim win but Canada pretty much has asked for it with all the brash "own the podium" crap and the Canadian arrogance associated with "their game."

Paul, Own the Podium is the name some joker in a federal office came up with for the funding program. Even some of our athletes have bashed it, saying they put lots of the money to poor use and should have listened to the athletes more etc.

Canada has the gold all but wrapped up... I said it to one of my buddies the other day after the US CA game. US blew their load a bit early and Canada got bitch slapped and finally woke up.

CA beats Slovakia and US or Finland with ease...

Yeah i have no problem with you cheering for the states over Canada, that makes sense. Sports are a competition thats what makes it exciting, cheering for your own team.
I just saw a few posts about people enjoying seeing Canada not get a medal in hockey, basically crashing and burning, and it was late at night and i was still a little too happy about our win against russia maybe I over reacted a little bit.

mbsteez you said it best about own the podium. it seemed a little over the top to me, but it was good to see more money then usual going to our athletes.

Hahaha, if you were to watch Ducks games with any regularity you would know that Corey Perry falls down for no apparent reason all too often. He is like the antithesis of Scott Neidermayer. He'll be cruising along with no one around him and just fall over randomly. Put people around him and lord knows where he'll end up. The good part is that much like last nights game, he usually buries the puck in the net, then falls over! I believe there are videos on Youtube of Getzlaf making fun of him for it.

That women's game was great I thought, well played by both teams, Canada's goalie was the difference I felt. And beauty goals by Canada's scorer, who is pretty cute as well. But I really thought it was a good, hard fought game by both teams. One difference I noticed was Canada's passing game seemed much better. Harder, crisper passes.
