I know helmets are super gay... but i took a nasty fall on a back roll to blind and when i came up I couldent remember where i lived. Im an aspiring engineer and already have 3 years under me I dont want to get dumb but i dont want to look gay.

point is do helmets really help falls on water or would they cause them more?

when you fall on the right spot, having a helmet is worth all the time you looked gay! It really helps

A helmet is only going to help if you hit a log or something. Helmets were brought into wakeboarding for sliders and kickers (solid objects) that you could hit your head on. You're an engineer, you should know this. Water skiers don't wear helmets and the travel a lot faster than us. My opinion is you would just look GAY.

As a bunch of peeps on this board know... I'm not a helmet behind the boat guy. But if you don't wanna look gay, there is only one way to go:

About the only time they could possibly help (without ear protection...which looks extra-gay)...is on the fall your are likely taking on the trick the heal back edge catch. Remember that even though they may prevent a concussion in this instance the extra surface area could create other issues such as neck injuries, whiplash, etc.

BTW...I have gone through the "helmet phase" myself and choose to ride without one.
