i need a name for my new dog. I want it to be related to wakeboarding i think (raley, shasta etc..) but i already know people whos dogs have those names. shes a great dane. shes a harlequin (white with black patches). also if anyone has a great dane, are they pretty good in or near the water bc i want her to be my big boat dog.

wes.
if i tell you what i want to name my dog, will you promise not to want it for yours?

ok, i'll take that as a yes.

i really like the names
1. mobius - mobe/mobie for short
2. ollie
3. monkey (i realize other than "monkey spin", this has little to relate with wakeboarding... i just think it would be funny to have a dog named monkey. of course, if it were up to joe, our puppy would be named, steve.)

that's right! "steve" is an awesome and original name for a dog. i mean, how many people do you know named their dog steve? not many!

Steve is a fantastic name for a dog, especially when it's a puppy, has been misbehaving, and you're in line at the grocery store talking about Steve having accidents and you're just going to lock him outside the next time he does it, etc., etc. People's reactions are priceless.

Steve:

No problem Frankie. My cats are Musa & Jerry. Both girls. I've had them for ten years, so wakeboarding wasn't a part of my life when I named them.

Hey, I know you're in Texas, so you've probably never ridden the legendary delta, but you could name her "Delta."

We named our dog Hoon, and my mom abosolutely hates it. She's named after Shannon Hoon, lead singer of Blind Melon, he died the rockstar death with a heroin overdose. A great name for your dog would be Glace.

At the last 2 wakeboard comps. I was at, there were TONS of dogs, which I really like, because when you're anxious to get out there, you can simply go over and pet a puppy, and it all goes away.

ANYHOO... I like the names: Rayley, (Spelled however) OR Slider. I think its a real original name, and I like it... "Come here Slider"... It has a slight ring to it
Post a pic!!

hey frankie, just a thought. i like mobius too but if you were to call it mobe or moby, you might have problems telling it NO. you should try not to name your dog with anything that rhymes with no becuase they will get confused. mobe, bo, moe, etc.

as for a name, i think "harf" would be pretty funny. people might think you are saying "arf" and barking at your dog whenever you call it

We take ours to the river wakeboarding with us all the time, she loves to get in the water, to keep her claws ok on the vinyl we use a dremel tool to trim them, sounds harsh i know but she doesnt mind it.

You will get a laugh every time you tell someone their name. I have a friend with an English Bulldog that is named Barb.
So funny.

Wes,
Cute dog. Looks like that stack of dog food won’t last for very long! Always a tough process to pick the new pet name. Hoochie, Ollie, Kicker, Raley, Indy, Delta, Shasta. From the pics… Shasta seems to be a good fit.

I have had my Australian Shepard for longer than I have been wakeboarding… He has more of a snowboarding influence for his name….. “Burton” It’s always funny to see if people pick up on the theme type names…. I have had a number of people ask about my dogs name with a puzzled look on their face.

My friend let his kids pick the new dog name… and yes they picked Dee O Gee.

I named my two year old golden retriever Mobe, short for Mobius. I can attest that Matt Moss might be right, my dog doesn't really understand or respond to the word "no" so we have to use words like "off" "drop" "down" etc. Hell, it never occurred to me that he might be confusing "no" with his name. I guess you learn something new every day.

Get that poor dog some better food! Great Danes have a short enough life span as it is, not to mention they grow so fast, Alpo just isn't going to cut it nutritionally for her. I do have some experience with this, we have a blue great dane named Jada, in no way related to wakeboarding obviously.

How about Tindy, bad grab on a wakeboard, but cute name for a dog. I liked Spotter and Mali as well.

Crazy I just found this discussion... My mom actually just let her house to pick up our new great dane. ( we go through great rescue society ). His name is 'Spooky-Bear' also a harliquin. Why dont you name him after your favorite boat. Like 'master' afer master craft or 'Star' after X star.. Could always name him "Nautique". I know silly ideas! Good luck!
