My wife and I are moving to Phoenix in about 3 months. Was wondering about the lakes and mountains. My biggest questions are do you have to be up early to get good water. How far are the lakes from the Scottsdale area? Are the lakes deep? How far to the nearest snow resort? What are the best things about living in Phoenix?

When I get out that way I will be looking for some riders to ride with so hit me up.

In order...

My biggest questions are do you have to be up early to get good water.
Yes. But you'll wanna get up early to avoid the heat anyway.

Are the lakes deep?
Yes, very.

How far to the nearest snow resort?
Snowbowl in Flagstaff is a 2 hr drive, Sunrise in Pinetop is a 3 1/2 hr drive. If you want somewhere with more than 2" of slushy snow for 2 weekends a yr then avoid those places and get on a plane to Utah (1 hr flight) or Colorado (a 2 hr flight I believe).

What are the best things about living in Phoenix?
The winter and the outdoors. If you're not into pretentiousness avoid Snobsdale.

I get out that way I will be looking for some riders to ride with so hit me up.
Plenty of peoiple out here looking for a third so you'll be fine.

I just moved to Phoenix last week...sold the boat before I left the midwest. So until I get a boat I am always looking for a pull...will always pay and bring beer or bev of choice. I should be able to get a boat in a couple months and will always return the the favor

Don't pay attention to the Snobsdale or Snottsdale remarks. There are areas in every city/town in Arizona that are pretentious as well as areas that are crappy, including scottsdale. Snowbowl and Sunrise are small ski areas and have had very short seasons the last few years, but hey from shorts and t-shirts to ski/board on some white stuff in less than 2 hrs drive aint bad.
We get up pretty early on weekends to board this time of year, but the great thing is about 6-7 months of the year it is lots less crowded. I moved from Chicago and dont plan on moving back anytime soon.

Thanks guys. My wife and I are looking forward to coming out. We will be coming from Texas so we are used to hot weather. Our lake here is really shallow (6-20) feet but averages about 8 where we ride. We will be bringing the ole' X-star down so we will have room for 10 more! Can't wait to see her in some deep water.

Most Phoenix area lakes are 80 to 100 feet at their deepest. Most of the areas I ride are 50 to 60 ft.

So you have access to 3 good lakes and 1 great lake within an hour of the Scottsdale area, which in it self if one of the best parts of living in Arizona. Yes better get up early for the good water especially on the weekends. The 3 good lakes are Pleasant, Saguaro, Bartlett....and the 1 great lake is Roosevelt!

The water is plenty deep, however the summer months get a lil shallow with many of the lakes being drained as they are just reservoirs.

The nearest snow resort is just as far away as you wish to fly from Sky Harbor Airport! Snowbowl is close, but close to being a Ski resort at best...

Finally the best things about living in AZ is the dry climate, awesome sunsets, incredible food, limitless shopping, beautiful scenery & people.

Hit me up to ride and I would be happy to assist you and your family with finding a suitable place to live, as I am a Realtor here in AZ. Email me for anything you need to know: jasongold@windermere.com
