Just got a used 2000 SAN and owners manual and dealer recommend to not leave it in the water. I've had a mastercraft for six years, kept it in a spring fed lake for 5 months a year in PA and never had a problem. Does anyone leave a SAN in the water? I'd rather not use a lift so I don't have to take the weight out every day. Please keep comments to correct craft boats only. Thanks

Rich,

Any boat made of gelcoat and fiberglass has the possibility of blistering. At my dealership, I have seen boats that have been left in the water year round blister, and I have seen some blister after three months. It is always best to keep it on the lift or take it out every couple of weeks.

if you are worried, can't you use boat paint?

Tim - you probably could, but that's like taking a luxury car and spray painting it because you don't like the color. Of course if I absolutely had to keep it in the water, I'd rather have it look a little ugly than have major gel coat issues.
