I am heading down to Mead this weekend for the first time. We are going to the Overton arm/launch because it is a lot closer. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

they dont have a campground at overton, you need to go to echo (10 miles down the road) for a real campsite. feel free to ask any questions

Go up the Virgin River stretch and at the end where it opens up into a big round area there is a killer area against a cliff you can ride when it's blowing. When the wind is calm, the whole Virgin River stretch is butter. If you're shore camping there are some good spots up near the end of V. River. We found a dried up creek bed between two cliffs that was perfect, but I have a feeling it it were to rain really hard, that might not have been the best spot, but it was cool when we were there. It was a little cove, and the boat was sheltered from the waves & wind.

Hope that helps! Make sure to post pictures!

The water is waaaay to low to go there now Dan. The lake basically ends at Fish Island which is right in front of the Overton Marina. They are prob. gonna have to move the entire Overton Marina if the lake goes any lower.

Now that the water is so low I prefer to launch from Echo Bay. IMO there are better choices there for riding no matter where the wind is coming from. Also, don't give up if its a little windy in the morning, often around the corner it will be calm.

If you go to overton there is now camp ground, except for shor camping. you can stay in town. there is a good pizza joint on the main stretch. echo is a bit further, but there is a capmground and a marina store. more places to ride to the north is it's windy. no place to go at overton if there's any wind. last year the water was pretty low. watch for rocks in the channel. it's probably a lot worse now. have fun.
