Most board shorts I've owned dont have an interior mesh. Ive been using compression shorts underneath, but they stay wet after a set. Any recommendations to stay dry and comfortable, neoprene shorts, etc?

Like Ben said, go commando. If you were anything underneath your board shorts, they'll stay wet.

Then you experience that ball slap, and no one likes ball slap

Yep, thats the worst. Are there any brands that have the built in mesh, or are neoprene shorts any good? What are some of the best board shorts?

I wear a pair of boxers, thin ones that dry quick. They reduce ball slap, but still let em breath. Best boardshorts, hands down goes to Cire. Got my first pair couple seasons ago, and never looked back.

Built in mesh? What is this 1986? U should get a neon barefoot suit. Call Ron Scarpa.

Billabong with the 4-way stretch or Quicksilver with the diamond bobby.

JetPilot has a line of rideshorts that have compression shorts built in. Some models, including the GameChangers, are removable and can be interchanged into other JP shorts.

Yea i have a pair of those jet pilot shorts with the built in neoprene for the colder days, but i will tell you i messed up and wore them on a hot summer day one time and couldn't stand it! your stuff gets HOT in those things if its not cold outside. so my recommedation, if you are that worried about being a little wet you have 2 options 1. wear underarmour, sit out in the sun for a minute, or let somebody else drive for a minute and stand up or something to let em dry. 2. commando, and risk the ever so painful ball slap. personally, i'd rather go with number 1.

That is very true, but for the amount of times I get that, the added comfort of a nice breeze through there is totally worth it. I tried Under Armor shorts once and they wouldnt stay in place. Waistband rolled down, legs rolled up, I didnt enjoy the experience.

O'Neill Lopez Freak's...freeballin' all the way. It looks ridiculous when guys have boxers hanging out the top of their trunks.

The new 2012 CIRE's are my best board shorts to date. They stretch, are long, and dry very quickly. I roll commando unless I'm riding and then I'll wear a pair of Under Armor under them. The UA doesn't dry all the way but nut slap is nothing to mess around with.

Cires all the way.....Im on my 8th pair. Nothing is wrong with the other 7, they are still going strong. They keep kickin out awesome designs and new technology like 4 way stretch, etc, so I gotta buy another pair after another haha. They have outstanding customer service. Top Notch Company.

I think the best option is to go commando then throw on another pair over the top just when you ride. Believe me I am the test dummy by perfecting the scarecrow to ball slap
