2002 Supra SSV

I just purchased a 2002 SSV and I would like to set it up for wakesurfing. It has a factory three bag ballast and I was thinking of replacing the rear 350# bags with #550# Fli High sacs. Is this going to do the trick?
Any advice is appreciated.

Yes but you will still need to replace the locker sac with the 1150 GG bag to get the nose weight. I loved our 02 but with 7 going all of the time it was too small.

One more note the intake manifold is a little weak, I replumed our to get a faster fill time

So the middle 400# bag is not enough? Did you try moving the bag as far forward as possible in the locker? If I go with 2-550# and 1-1150# can you still get 8 people in the boat or is it overloaded?

Also, can you give me a little more detail on the replumbing of the intake manifold please.

I've got the 2006 model of the SSV. It loves extra weight.

I've got 1100 in the middle, just upgraded to 750's in the back plus I have two 350's for moving around. Should make for a very nice wave.

I'm not convinced you need any more weight in the front. I've been loading it all in the back and have really enjoyed it. As for replumbing to get a faster fill time... maybe things changed in later years, but i've never been stuck waiting too long for the middle to fill.

For space... you're gonna be cramped. With the number of bags I run, there is not much space left to sit on the weighted side of the boat. Unfortunately Supra's didnt get a ton of storage space til the '07's

I have an 03 and use 750's in the back(i had to remove the drivers side board at the front of the compartment --it is not needed, and have an 1100 in the middle--thats it--works great and is completely concealed. I have not had any issues with overloading or taking on water with this setup and you can almost fill the 750's!

Great move on getting rid of that compartment, Phil. I'll have to do that in the new year when I get to use my 750s for the first time. I was thinking i'd only get 600 out of them.

working on my surf wake on my 2002 SSV. I have a 565# sac for the back left plus two batteries in the compartment, I had the 600# front sac full, a 250# sac on the rear seat plus 300#'s of people on the left side seating and a 130# driver.

We tested speeds between 9.5 and 11mph. 9.8-10.0 looked the best with this weight. We emptied the front sac half way and the surf wake looked better than when it was full. Does this make sense?

One thing I would like to add, we had the wake plate all the way up. Is this wrong?

I just came back from the first ride of the season with my new 750 bags. Pretty dissapointed. The extra weight didn't seem to do much more. The wave was soft, and the pocket wasn't too long. I had about 1600 in the back, 1100 in the middle, and 300 upfront. With more weight up front, maybe the pocket was longer. I'm at the point now where I think the '06 hull is not a natural wakesurfer.

Not to knock it too much, it's a lot of fun, I just want to get into a top of class wakesurf boat.

Hey Andrew, that looks like the Okanagan, where are you? I am in Victoria but we go to Osoyoos every summer for some camping and boating. I love the heat there.

I think I might try my wakeplate down and see if plowing forward might give me a longer sweet spot in the wake. What do you think?

Moving your plate down will make the wake a little smaller but yes it will increase the pocket which is worth the trade off imo. I run with my plate about half at 9.8 mph on my Moomba.

I measured the ski locker and I do not see how the GG 1100# sac would fit. The compartment is 16" deep at the back and 11" deep at the front, and if I stretch the tape up to the very front it is only 88" long. Does it just fill up to the shape of the hull?

Andrew,

I have an 06 SSV and we surf all the time with out a problem. I have the wake plate up the surf side ballast full another 400# sac on that side and the center sac at about half to 3/4 depending on how many people in the boat. I did notice that my particular boat is real sensitive to speed. we go about 10.3. Also make sure that you are in the deepest part of the lake possible. I never surf in water under 10 ft deep. I hope this helps, it took me almost all year to find the right combo. Let me know if you still have issues.

Thanks for the offer Jamison. We have our wave dialed on it, but I think we've ended up looking for something more than the boat is capable of.
