I 'll spare the details but I have given up on any tricks involving the need to "get air",[age, injury etc.]. Anyway last summer I watched an older guy like me do one surface trick after another. He looked like he was having a blast and it gave me some hope. Anyway Even though I am equally bad on either, what do you think works better for surface tricks, continuous or three stage rocker?

That's to bad your giving up on getting air. I've rode with a guy that was in his sixties and still going for it.

Any board with removable fins will work just fine for surface stuff. IMO a roam isn't the easiest board to ride if you don't have solid basics.

continuous and if you want to learn surface tricks I would HIGHLY recomend the roam, I learned to powerslide, bs 180, and surface 360 on it and now I can do all three with a regular board. If you're just doing surface tricks the roam is a blast!

Check out the LF boards with variable edges, it is almost impossible to catch them, I personally love the LF shane.
