I have a '07 vlx and haven't dewinterized it yet. I have a new baby and a new house which needs a bunch of work so I'm not able to make it out very much this summer. My buddy has an axis and from time to time I get to ride with him.
My question is... Should I even bother to dewinterize my boat ? It's already well into summer now and even if I do it, I may only get a handful of chances to take it out. But then I'll have to winterize it again.
Are there any drawbacks to not dewinterizing and Letting her sit until next summer ?

Assuming you winterized it meticulously (fogged cylinders, changed oil, stabilized gas, etc) maybe it won't be too bad, but even then I'd still run it as much as you can before winterizing again. There are parts of the engine that can only be lubricated by running it. Fuel pump, gas tank, plugs, battery, would all be suspect with a year and a half of being laid up.

Treat it like an investment and maintain it. Running it regularly is part of maintaining it. If you absolutely can't then sell it.
