I want to be able to transfer fuel from the gas tank on our houseboat to the gas tank on our wakeboard boat. Would I be able to purchase a fuel pump like this one http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/937089/10002/-1 and attach fuel lines to both ends and hook it up to 12v and be good to go? The only problem I see is that the instructions state the fuel pump needs to be mounted below the fuel tank which I would not be able to do so I'm not sure if there would be enough pressure to transfer the fuel. If anyone can recommend a pump that would work I would appreciate it. I also saw a bilge pump and Harbor Freight but it says not to use with fuel so I don't want to blow the boat up.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

it says it's for diesel but gas should work also shouldn't it?

I use the same type of pump for both diesel and Gasoline and haven't had any problems but you might ask.

Better check with your boat insurance. If you spill you are not covered. We use to put them on the boats we sold but not anymore.

If you use those pumps, be very careful where your power supply is with respects to the gas fumes. Clipping onto a power source can be bad. If they slip off, it can create a spark.

I was going to hard wire it to a 12wv source. I think I'd be okay going that route. The clips do look like an accident waiting to happen.

Good call. Hard wiring it will prevent sparks.
