Start by egding out, slowly flatten and really slam that tail down and start lifting your board in the air with your front foot. As your allowing the pressure of the water and your front foot to lift you suck up your knees to add extra height to your ollie. Try to also plane out your board in the air so your ollie is flat and not just lifting your nose up.

Really make sure when you lift your front foot you dont put your weight on it. Otherwise its a ollie to nose dive to hospital.

haha i stick to surface spins on the wakeskate. i dont have teh balls to get air born.

and when i ollie. i push down on my front foot first, then i imediatly push down on my back and after doing that it sends me into the air. i get around a foot or a foot and half doing that. is it all wrong?

Watch the pros, often they do a little bounce before the ollie to get the board deeper in the water.

i either ride a lyman 139 (mine) or a watson 142 (dads) im riding the watson more and more though, i get more pop with it off the wake. and im working on wake o wake tricks right now more then anything.

Watch Adam Errington, his pre-bounce is really noticable and he has insane pop. GettingOlder, does the type of rocker matter for ollies?

I used to ollie pretty high last summer on my old marius, and I got a Ronix Bill to take with me to Florida. I cant ollie very good at all on it, but I rode a Viva at OWC and I was doing ollies higher than I ever have.

You can ollie higher at O-dub due to the cable pull.

If you can ollie a skateboard, you'll be able to ollie a wakeboard. Much cheaper to practice that way.

I'm poor at the ollie also, great advice ... I will practice on my sons skateboard on the grass instead of the concrete.

i could NEVER ollie on a skate board. i have a long board that i just ride around on. so thats pretty much out of the question. i can get around an inch of ollie on a skate board. lol

skateboard ollie and wakeboard are nothing alike anyway.

the pre-pop is very important, the harder the push down the harder the water is going to push you back up. that is when you pull your front foot up then snap your back foot up with you. its kind of hard to describe, so i hope that makes sense.
Old     (lfrider92)      Join Date: Sep 2008       03-19-2009, 8:25 AM Reply
should i be pushing my front or back foot down first?

from what ive read here im seeing back foot. but ive always done it with my front. im going back out to vegas on friday to ride saturday, so ill be able to try then. if its the back foot first. that might be my problem.

i want to be able to ollie over a no wake boouy but im not even close. haha

I used to be a pretty good skateboarder back in the day. I loved ollies especially over large gaps and stairs with at least 12 or more. It was one of my favorite things to do. I used to ollie a set of twelve stairs all the time. I have had problems wanting to push back down with my front foot when my back foot comes up. When you ollie skateboarding you put a little pressure on the front of the board to level out. I keep trying to do that wakeboarding. I hope to get it down better this summer. The two are similar but not the same.

rock forward and that slam the tail down into the water and jump off your back foot. the water pressure will be pushing back up at you so let yourself come up and suck up your legs and then push forward with your front foot to bring up that tail and make it look good. you can ollie as high or higher then you can jump. you just have to allow your self to do it. i used to be afraid to really jump up and i would only get a couple inches.

i have waketrix on dvd. and their instruction on ollie is terrible. thats where i got front foot first. but everyone here is saying to use back ffot first

No everyone here is telling you to pre-pop which is pushing down with your front foot first.

nick, my bad. i thought the pre pop was just a mini llie before the actual one
Old     (wakemitch)      Join Date: Jun 2005       03-19-2009, 5:21 PM Reply
david, no the prepop is when you put pressure on your front foot up first. it gets the tail higher out of the water so you can slam it down more on your ollie. thats what i ment by rock forward
Old     (lfrider92)      Join Date: Sep 2008       03-19-2009, 7:03 PM Reply
thanks mitch. appreciate it. thats kind of what im doing but not fully what some of the other people said. ill try it out saturday

Sorry Mitch but I think David had in right, pre pop is like a mini ollie ( or a little bounce) before you actually ollie. At least that's what I've always believed it was.

David I understand what you mean about watetrix..."To do an ollie, edge out from the wake, come off your edge and ollie."
Clear as mud.

Personally the Lyman has the highest ollie pop of any board I've ridden, it one of the reasons I bought mine.

phillip, some times it looks like that but that is not the idea. the book for wakeskating explains it the best.
