I'm starting to take my jumps a little farther once in a while into the flats (heelside). I landed really hard the other day and bruised my right heel which ended my day. I ride with BS Cinch wraps which have a pretty good cushion for a foot bed. Any suggestions on the best way to land so you don't hurt the bottom of your feet? MOst of my jumps I just go wake to wake which makes it much softer, I'm thinking about getting a longer line however I'm just finally jumping the wake toeside so if I went to a 70 foot plus handle I don't think I could get across.

It's got to be the bindings.
I haven't bruised my heels in a long while.

Land with the handle in. The handle is your control. If you land with the handle in, it will pull the board underneath you so you can crouch down enough and absorb the shock of the landing with your knees, hips, etc. If you land with the handle out, you have to stiff-leg it in order to save the jump, and you end up with sore heels, knees, etc. Bindings and board can only help so much and are secondary to technique, in my opinion. Good luck.

Land on edge and maintain your momentum into the flats. This will allow your board to sink in a little deeper and cushion the landing without throwing you out the front. It sounds like you are landing flat on your board, which is quite jolting. Take off on edge, land on edge. It will smooth out you riding a lot.
