You can find lead on ebay or craigslist.
And fyi pop products put steel in their bags, not lead.

Go to your local metal recycling place they will have scraps and you can melt them down . I was lucky my local metal recyling place had lead block. But lead is easy to melt, you can get a old bread pan and melt scrap in to blocks very easy and cheap I have about 700 pounds of lead and was like 300 bucks. Hope that helps.....

Bomb Wake They have 50-lb Bomb Sacks! Bomb Wake uses steel as well!

Lead is great for ballast but has health hazards associated with it!

Ballast Specific Gravity Comparison: (Specific Gravity is is a comparison of its density to that of water)

Water Specific Gravity = 1.00

Steel Specific Gravity = 7.85

Lead Specific Gravity = 11.35

I bought 8 bags from Pop Products, and picked up a bunch of scrap lead from a local tire shop. Then filled each bag with 40 lbs of old tire lead. Worked out pretty good, & cost me about $150 total. And I didn't have to mess with melting it & sucking lead fumes.

our local metal recycling place sells scrap lead for 60 cents a pound. You can melt it down or put it in pvc piping and cap it off.

Bomb wake bags are super official. They are really durable and they dont harm the boat with sharp edges, i have never seen one bust. even being dropped from way high.
