Kay, as noted in my other thread, I just picked up an 03 TFD 142 off eBay. I have a question about the fins though. According to the Wakeworld board reviews, the 03 TFD came with 1.3 A-wing fins, while the 04 had 1.1's. Well mine has the 1.1's on it. Just wondering if there was a mid-season change to the board that was carried over into 04 or if these fins were changed by the guy who owned it before or what.

I'm pondering heading out and buying some 1.3's to have on hand in case I don't like the 1.1's. On my Drifter I like the loose feel, because I just adjust my weight back slightly to get a fin in the water and it tracks hard. I was hoping for a similar ride with this thing, wondering if the smaller fin will compromise that.

1st get rid of the A-wings they are for east coast riders (A=Atlantic) (way to grippy for butter), you need the P-wings (P=Pacific), BIG DIFFERENCE... also you might want to go with the .7's they still grab and track when you want but with break loose easier when you want also.

Yeah if anything you lucked out getting the 1.1" fins. I would still recommend getting .7" A Wing fins or .8" P Wing fins. I have both sets on different 3DS boards and they are so much better than the 1.1" fins.

What do you recomend for putting on a 2000 Byerly? I'd want the smallest possible, so either .7 A or .8 P, but which one? I'm in the midwest so the whole atlantic/pacific deal doesn't apply. I was thinking probably the .8P? Any suggestions? I've also heard alot of people ride the 137 Byerly finless so I might try that first.

don't know about that board, a P wing just isn't as rail grabbing as the A wing thats all.

not sure it the 2000 byerly had the long molded fins like the more recent ones. if so, the .8 P-wing is the center fin.

The 2000 does have the long molded fins.

The TFD needs .7" or .8" A or P Wings. The A wings are perfect for it I believe and thats how Chad Sharpe rode the board! You did luck out getting the 1.1" but they are still too big. The smaller fins dial that board in to perfection!
