i know everyone normaly just Ts off of the raw water intake, but i was curious to if it would be possible to just have a hose(1 or 1.5 inch) that could be thrown over the side? would that work or would the pumps not be able to get enough power to pull the water over the side and just end up running the pumps dry? for certain reasons i just cant tap into the raw water intake or drill a new hole, so i was curious to if something like this would work

The Simer is self priming. You don't have to worry about it picking up water with a hose over the side.

so it would be no problem to do it that way? also would i want seperate hoses for each pump or could i just do one larger hose and branch it off to each pump?

I think that would work just fine, just try it.

If it doesnt work to your expectations then buck up and drill the hole, one of the benefits of the reversible pump is being able to adjust on the fly, you will be able to empty on the go but I dont think you would be able to fill...

i agree with Gordon - it will work, but you'll miss out on one of the biggest advantages of a system - filling underway.

sack up and start cutting. ;) if you go with a dedicated intake, measure 10X inside & out, check height clearance, and make sure it isn't upstream of anything like a paddlewheel or depth finder.
