I am probably signin the papers tomorrow for my new 2007 Malibu VLX
if it's anything like my XTi, the stock prop probably wont cut it
I've read alot on here about the acme 1235 prop
it looks to be around $550 shipped
do you guys recommend getting one and installing it from the get go
or is there a different prop you VLX guys like better
thanks

From what I have read 1235 if you have a lot of weight or 537 if you don't have as much ballast, seem to be the two props to use.

xti and vlx have different props....3 blade vs 4 blade and different pitches.

I would try it out then go and buy.

Try the 537 and see what you think. Unless you are running a crazy amount of ballast or have the entire family in the boat the stock prop will be great. We love the 1235 prop on our VLX but if you want to ski at all it is not the prop for you. We run pretty high RPM's when we are cruising up and down the river. For wakeboarding and wakesurfing the prop cannot be beat. We have run the 537, 857, OJ version of the 1235, and the acme 1235. Since we wakesurf most of the time the 1235 is the one for us. We run up to 3000lbs when wakesurfing. If you do want performance without losing as much top end the 857 is great.
